Ancient tung tree - The giant god in the heart of the old forest

In a large area of Cat Tien National Park, there is an ancient tung tree that has existed for more than 400 years, like a silent witness to the many changes of the green forest. Soaring up to 30m high and the trunk diameter reaching 2-3m, the tung tree surpasses all previous limits in size. It even takes 20 adults holding hands to hug the circumference of the tree trunk.

The giant buttress roots rise more than 3m above the ground, stretching more than 30m like giant arms taking root deep in the forest. These tree roots have amazed many visitors, making people think of the image of a giant lizard lying still in the middle of the old forest, but at any time can wake up.

This ancient tung tree is not only a natural wonder, but also plays an important role in maintaining the ecosystem. With its giant root system that penetrates deep into the ground, the tung tree helps stabilize the soil, prevent erosion, and maintain moisture in the forest. Thanks to this "thunder snake god", animals and plants in the area are better protected, contributing to maintaining the ecosystem for the tropical forest.
