The ancient tung tree - A giant deity in the heart of the old forest.
In a vast area of Cat Tien National Park, there stands an ancient tung tree that has existed for over 400 years, a silent witness to countless changes in the green forest. Reaching a height of 30 meters and with a trunk diameter of 2-3 meters, the tung tree defies all previous size limitations. In fact, it would take 20 adults holding hands to encircle its trunk.
The giant buttress roots protrude more than 3m above the ground, stretching more than 30m like giant arms taking root in the deep forest. These tree roots have amazed many visitors, making people think of the image of a giant lizard lying still in the middle of the old forest, but can wake up at any time.

This ancient tung tree is not only a natural wonder but also plays a crucial role in maintaining the ecosystem. With its enormous root system penetrating deep into the ground, the tung tree helps stabilize the soil, prevent erosion, and maintain moisture in the forest. Thanks to this "thunder serpent god," the animals and plants in the area are better protected, contributing to the maintenance of the tropical forest ecosystem.
