The Vietnamese women's national team recently suffered a heavy 0-9 defeat against Spain in a friendly match ahead of the 2023 World Cup.
The Vietnamese women's team is at a complete disadvantage in terms of physique compared to Spain.
Despite the heavy defeat, this result was predictable given the significant difference in skill level between the two teams at this point.
Following the match, coach Mai Duc Chung's players received mixed reactions from Southeast Asian football fans.
"The Vietnamese women's team lost 0-9 in the friendly match. They'll probably lose 0-20 in the tournament," wrote user Alfitho Lumbessy.
"We lost so badly against Spain. I wonder what it will be like when we face the world's number one team, the USA," another person commented.
User Yusop expressed his concern: "That was a terrible loss. I haven't even thought about them facing the USA or the Netherlands in the World Cup."
Despite the negative feedback, Huynh Nhu and her teammates still received much praise from Southeast Asian audiences.
"Come on Vietnam, ignore the mockery. These people and their teams are not as good as you. I'm cheering you on from Thailand," a Thai fan expressed.
Southeast Asian fans comment on the match between the Vietnamese and Spanish women's national teams.
"They still have every right to be proud of having competed against the best players in the world," wrote user Pho Tagu.
Meanwhile, user Huda Qhoirun Nurfaza commented: "Regardless, the Vietnamese women's team is still the strongest in Southeast Asia."
"Stay strong, I'm always here to support you," another person commented.
