Portrait of the Principal of the country's leading medical school awarded the "Order of the Academic Palm" by the French Government

According to information from Hanoi Medical University, on October 14th, at the Embassy of the Republic of France in Hanoi, the "Club of Former Doctors and Pharmacists Who Studied in the Republic of France" was launched, marking the success of the medical training cooperation program between France and Vietnam. The club will be a place to share and update information on Vietnam-France medical cooperation, fostering a connection among generations of Vietnamese doctors and pharmacists who have studied and trained in France, and serving as a foundation to encourage the younger generation to continue developing and inheriting the tradition of medical and pharmaceutical training between Vietnam and France.

Since 1993, with the support of the French Government , numerous medical training projects, expert exchanges, and the provision of medical equipment and medicines have been implemented. Programs such as residency training for doctors and pharmacists in France (FFI, later DFMS/A), inter-university training in Vietnam (DU/DIU, FMC), and support for the development of university hospital centers (CHU) in Hanoi have not only contributed to the modernization of Vietnam's healthcare system but, more importantly, have trained thousands of skilled specialists for the country. Many of them have become leading experts in their fields, holding important positions in the healthcare sector.

On this occasion, Ambassador Olivier Brochet of the Republic of France, on behalf of the French Government, presented Professor Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu, Rector of Hanoi Medical University, with the "Order of Academic Palms".

This is one of the prestigious awards of the French Government, established in the early 19th century under Napoleon I, to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to French education, science, culture, and arts. It recognizes Professor Nguyen Huu Tu's contributions to the development of Francophone cooperation in Vietnam, and especially to Franco-Vietnamese medical training cooperation.

As Vice Rector in charge of Undergraduate Training, in charge of the French language program at Hanoi Medical University, and later as Rector of Hanoi Medical University, Professor Nguyen Huu Tu has made significant contributions to connecting and building collaborative training programs, student and faculty exchanges with prestigious and long-established universities and institutes in France such as the Sorbonne University, Montpellier Medical University, and Aix Marseille Medical University…

Professor Nguyen Huu Tu was born on October 20, 1968, in Hoang Hoa, Thanh Hoa.

In 1984, he passed the entrance exam to the General Medicine program at Hanoi Medical University.

He studied Anesthesia and Resuscitation as a resident physician from 1990 to 1993.

Professor Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu graduated from two hospital residency programs (FFI) specializing in anesthesiology and resuscitation at Hôtel Dieu and Edouard Harriot Hospital, Lyon (1994-1995) and Henri-Mondor Hospital, Créteil, Republic of France (1997-1998).

He was appointed Associate Professor in 2007 and Professor in 2014, making him the youngest Associate Professor and Professor in the medical field at the time of his recognition.

Professor Nguyen Huu Tu won the Asia Pacific Invention Award for Anesthesia and Resuscitation in 2009.

Professor Nguyen Huu Tu served as Vice Rector of Hanoi Medical University from 2009 to 2021 and became Rector of Hanoi Medical University in 2021. He is also the Director of the Hanoi Medical University branch in Thanh Hoa.
