On October 14, Mr. Olivier Brochet, Ambassador of the Republic of France, on behalf of the French Government, awarded the Academic Palm Medal to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu, Rector of Hanoi Medical University.
Mr. Olivier Brochet highly appreciated Mr. Tu's contributions as a bridge for medical training cooperation between France and Vietnam, including the development of a French-language medical training program at Hanoi Medical University.
To date, more than 800 French-speaking doctors have graduated and nearly one hundred medical theses have been defended in French. In addition, he also connects and exchanges students and lecturers with long-standing universities in France.
“Professor Tu has shown thateducation and research have no borders, and that the values of sharing and solidarity are at the heart of progress in healthcare,” said the French Ambassador.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu was born in 1968, graduated as a General Practitioner from Hanoi Medical University in 1990, and graduated as a resident physician, specializing in Anesthesia and Resuscitation in 1993. After that, he graduated from two specialized hospital residency programs in Anesthesia and Resuscitation in France.
In 2000-2003, he was a researcher at the National Center for Scientific Research, French Republic, and a teaching assistant at the University of Paris XII, Créteil. In 2003, he graduated with a doctorate in medicine from Hanoi Medical University.
He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2007 and Professor in 2014 by Hanoi Medical University and was the youngest Associate Professor and Professor in the medical field recognized at that time.
