Late this evening (January 15th), the Ho Chi Minh City Police Fire and Rescue Force, in coordination with the Binh Chanh District Police, is still sealing off and examining the scene of the fire at a block of the Mizuki Park apartment complex on Nguyen Van Linh Street, Binh Hung Commune.

Earlier, at around 7:30 PM, residents heard fire alarms and spotted thick black smoke billowing from the lower floors of a block in the Mizuki Park apartment complex.

Immediately, they panicked and ran down the stairs to escape to the ground. Security guards also approached, warned and assisted people to move safely.

The on-site fire fighting plan was activated to control the fire but failed.

Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Force of Ho Chi Minh City Police and Binh Chanh District Police coordinated with relevant units to mobilize vehicles and officers and soldiers to the scene.

Due to the large amount of smoke produced by the fire, the elite special forces of the Ho Chi Minh City Police deployed modern equipment and penetrated deep inside the apartment building, simultaneously clearing the smoke and searching for victims.

According to initial information, in this fire, a security guard suffered from smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Police officers directly guided nearly 90 people to safety.

Initially, authorities determined that the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
