Attending the dialogue conference were Mr. Huynh Van Son, Vice Chairman of the Long An Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Finance, the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board; the Regional Tax Office XVII; Mr. Kim Nyoung Ho, President of KOCHAM Vietnam; Mr. Ho Joong, President of the KOCHAM Long An Chapter; Mr. Ngo Ngoc Khanh, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Industrial Support Alliance (VISA); Mr. Vo Quoc Thang, Chairman of the Council of Business Associations of the Mekong Delta, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DongTam Group; and 70 exemplary businesses representing more than 2,600 businesses that conduct customs procedures at the Regional Customs Office XVII.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Trung Hai, Head of the Customs Sub-Department of Region XVII, emphasized that businesses have made significant contributions to the economic growth, budget revenue, and import-export turnover of the province and the country. Alongside this development, the Customs Sub-Department of Region XVII has always strived to reform administrative procedures, modernize customs management, and aim for a professional, transparent, and efficient customs system. These efforts not only contribute to the state budget but also help attract investment, promote economic development, and improve social welfare in the managed area.
As evidence of this, in implementing the policies of the Party and State and the directives of the Ministry of Finance and the Customs Department, in March 2025, the unit gradually reorganized, streamlined, and stabilized its organization according to the new model, ensuring customs clearance for import and export goods of enterprises.
Statistics for the first six months of 2025 show that the Customs Department of Region XVII processed 303,244 declarations, a 16% increase compared to the same period last year, with import and export turnover reaching US$10.4 billion, an 8% increase, and budget revenue reaching VND 2,273 billion, an 8% increase, achieving 50% of the annual target.
"Today's conference is not only an opportunity for us to listen, share, and jointly resolve difficulties and obstacles in import and export activities, but also a chance for the Customs Sub-Department of Region XVII and the business community to review, evaluate, and further strengthen cooperation and partnership in the future," emphasized Sub-Department Chief Nguyen Trung Hai.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Long An Provincial People's Committee Huynh Van Son emphasized: The Long An government and businesses are like two friends, working together for mutual development. He also pledged to always support and create the most favorable conditions for businesses and investors to develop sustainably and effectively in Long An.
At the conference, business representatives raised questions regarding customs clearance procedures and timelines; tax policies and supervision of import and export goods; post-clearance inspections, settlement reports, and monitoring of the use of duty-free goods. In an open and constructive spirit, the customs authorities acknowledged the difficulties and provided clear and comprehensive answers to the businesses' concerns. Issues beyond their authority will be compiled and reported to the Customs Department or other competent authorities for consideration and resolution as soon as possible.
According to Chief of Customs Nguyen Trung Hai, the feedback on difficulties, suggestions, and proposed solutions from businesses is useful information that helps customs authorities review and improve operational procedures, and also recommends necessary adjustments to higher authorities to facilitate import, export, and business activities.
The customs agency is committed to continuous innovation, improving management efficiency, and creating the most favorable conditions for import and export activities. This includes focusing on five key actions: strengthening administrative discipline and strictly handling violations; promoting and supporting businesses; resolving procedures transparently and fairly; promptly addressing issues; and improving the capacity of customs officials. Simultaneously, businesses are urged to cooperate in complying with the law, supporting anti-smuggling efforts, and collaborating in digital transformation to enhance procedural efficiency.
Furthermore, Mr. Nguyen Trung Hai hopes that in the coming time, businesses will always work together, enhance understanding and cooperation in the spirit of "Thinking together - working together - sharing together - developing together," in order to promote compliance with the law, contribute opinions to improve policies suitable to the practical development of socio-economic conditions, and aim for a transparent, favorable, and efficient business environment.
