The Government held an online meeting on combating IUU fishing.

On the morning of December 2, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chaired an online meeting on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. At the Ca Mau province bridge, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Lu Quang Ngoi and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su attended the meeting.

With the drastic and synchronous direction of the Government and the Prime Minister , the work to combat IUU fishing nationwide has made new progress. According to the report at the meeting, by the end of November 2025, ministries, branches and localities had completed 101/101 tasks.

The total number of fishing vessels registered and updated on Vnfishbase by localities is 100%. Inspection, patrol and control work is strictly implemented.

In the last days of November 2025, 1,660 fishing vessels leaving the port, 1,457 vessels arriving at the port were inspected and controlled according to regulations and the output of aquatic products exploited through the port was 3,113 tons on the eCDT system; 195 aquatic product receipts through the port, 29 SC papers and 01 CC paper were issued on eCDT at 51 fishing ports designated as qualified to confirm exploited aquatic product materials; 10 records with a volume of 637,492 kg of aquatic products imported by container ships were inspected and controlled.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha noted that from now until December 15, 2025, ministries, branches and localities will strengthen inspection, supervision and strictly handle violating vessels in a public and transparent manner; in which, the Ministries of Agriculture and Environment, Foreign Affairs , National Defense and Public Security will establish an interdisciplinary working group to continue to carefully inspect and evaluate inspection data and handling data according to regulations; verify fishing vessel information on the system; integrate and connect data to ensure accuracy, completeness, cleanliness and liveness. Units will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies and organizations to thoroughly resolve issues related to legal and technical conflicts in the management and handling of fishing vessels.

Immediately after the meeting with the Government bridge, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Lu Quang Ngoi directed departments, branches and localities in the province to closely monitor and fully count the vessels that lost connection; continue to monitor, strictly manage, and have effective solutions for fishing vessels at risk, not to neglect to let new violations occur. Localities regularly review and count the laborers working in this field, thereby building a project to support and change occupations for people. Quickly complete the draft contents to submit to the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council on building a Resolution regulating policies to support job conversion and demobilization of fishing vessels that do not need to operate in the province and regulating policies to support fishermen in upgrading, replacing equipment, and maintaining fishing vessel journey monitoring services.
