This morning (November 24), the Vietnam Farmers' Union coordinated with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to organize the Forum "Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Union - Minister of Natural Resources and Environment listens to farmers speak".

The Forum of the Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Union - Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Listening to Farmers Speak in 2024 has the theme: "Unlocking land resources, towards the NetZero goal, protecting the agricultural and rural environment". This is the first time that Comrade Luong Quoc Doan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, Comrade Do Duc Duy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment co-chaired, listening to the thoughts and aspirations of farmers.

Also attending the Forum were the Standing members of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, representatives of Central Committees, Ministries and Branches; representatives of departments, offices, institutes and schools of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; representatives of Committees and units under the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union; representatives of Farmers' Unions of provinces and cities, officials of Farmers' Unions at all levels; experts, scientists, enterprises in the fields of agriculture and land...

In particular, the Forum will have the direct participation of more than 200 typical farmers from provinces and cities across the country. During the program, it will be live-streamed on Dan Viet Electronic Newspaper, Natural Resources and Environment Newspaper, and on digital platforms (Fanpage, Youtube, TikTok of Dan Viet Electronic Newspaper). The Forum will also be connected to more than 10,000 points of connection, which are Farmers' Associations at provincial, district, and commune levels across the country, to propagate and spread to a large number of cadres and farmer members across the country.

Comrade Luong Quoc Doan, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union emphasized: "The forum is an opportunity to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of people, businesses, and cooperatives on land issues, green production transition, and environmental protection issues, thereby creating mechanisms and policies to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles to promote production and business, and clear the remaining "bottlenecks" in accordance with the Prime Minister 's direction on assigning leaders of ministries and branches to proactively and strengthen the organization of listening and dialogue with subjects on each topic and field in order to be timely.

The forum is held at a time of special importance to promote, disseminate, answer and provide information to promote the implementation of the 2024 Land Law, especially on issues related to land in agriculture and rural areas.

According to the Organizing Committee, up to this point, through various channels such as submissions from Farmers' Associations at all levels nationwide, and readers' opinions via the Listening to Farmers column on Dan Viet Electronic Newspaper, there have been over 1,000 questions, opinions, suggestions, and wishes sent to the two leaders, to answer questions about a number of major issues, namely:

Firstly, issues on promoting the implementation of the 2024 Land Law with the following contents: Mechanisms and policies on the implementation of the Land Law, mechanisms and policies on encouraging the concentration and accumulation of agricultural land to serve agricultural production; Mechanisms and policies to remove difficulties and obstacles in promoting and unlocking land resources to serve socio-economic development goals.

That is, issues on policy mechanisms related to climate change, net emission reduction targets, carbon absorption such as: Mechanisms and policies on climate change adaptation, enhancing the ability to forecast meteorology and hydrology, especially extreme weather phenomena such as flash floods, landslides, droughts, saltwater intrusion to ensure the lives and production of farmers; Promoting the role of farmers in implementing the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 (NetZero), farmers participating in low carbon absorption production.

Third, issues related to mechanisms and policies on environmental protection in agriculture and rural areas such as: Mechanisms and policies to remove difficulties and obstacles in the treatment of domestic waste, agricultural waste, and craft village environment; clean water supply and wastewater treatment in rural areas. Practices in the implementation of environmental criterion No. 17 in new rural construction; Mechanisms and policies in the implementation of environmental protection in the field of resource and mineral exploitation in rural areas.

At the Forum, officials, farmers' association members from all over the country, cooperatives, experts, scientists, and businesses directly shared and proposed their opinions and aspirations to the Vietnam Farmers' Union and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on land, climate, and environmental mechanisms and policies. On that basis, leaders of the two units will directly listen and exchange with the motto "listen together, exchange together" in an open, frank spirit, going straight to the heart of related issues.

Previously, within the framework of the program Pride of Vietnamese Farmers 2024, on October 14, 2024, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development organized the 9th National Farmers' Forum: President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union - Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Listened to farmers speak.

At this Forum, issues on green agricultural production transformation, response to natural disasters, climate change; promoting production linkages along value chains, etc. were directly asked by farmers and cooperatives to the two leaders and received satisfactory answers, creating motivation and momentum for farmers and cooperatives to continue to strive, improve their qualifications, master technology, and develop effective production and business.
