The opening ceremony for the signing of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime in Hanoi (Hanoi Convention), themed "Combating Cybercrime - Sharing Responsibility - Towards the Future," was held at the National Convention Center over two days, October 25-26.

The event was attended by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, representatives from nearly 100 countries and more than 100 international and regional organizations. In addition to the opening and closing ceremonies, the signing ceremony included plenary discussions, signing sessions, high-level discussions, roundtable discussions, and related events.

The Hanoi Convention, comprising nine chapters and 71 articles, is the result of nearly five years of continuous and protracted negotiations among member states, aiming to build a comprehensive multilateral legal framework for combating cybercrime.

The Hanoi Convention is not only a historic milestone in international cooperation on combating cybercrime, but also clearly demonstrates Vietnam's increasingly proactive role and global responsibility. The selection of Hanoi as the signing location for this important document reflects the international community's confidence in Vietnam as a reliable partner and a bridge between nations and regions.

Against the backdrop of rapidly evolving digital technologies and increasingly sophisticated cybercrime, the Hanoi Convention opens up opportunities for nations to act together, strengthen trust, and enhance cooperation for a safe, humane, and sustainable cyberspace for all.
