President approves the Agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters between Vietnam and Italy

The ratification of the Agreement contributes to promoting cooperative relations between the judicial bodies of the two countries in particular, and between Vietnam and Italy in general.

President Vo Van Thuong has just signed Decision No. 99/2024/QD-CTN approving the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Republic of Italy, as proposed by the Government in Submission No. 34/TTr-CP dated January 19, 2024. The ratification of the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between Vietnam and Italy is an objective requirement in the new situation, creating a direct and complete legal basis for law enforcement agencies of the two countries to cooperate in the field of mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, while better protecting the legitimate rights and interests of citizens of each country, contributing to promoting cooperative relations between the judicial agencies of the two countries in particular, and between Vietnam and Italy in general. The ratification of the Agreement is consistent with the proactive foreign policy and comprehensive, in-depth international integration of the Party and State of Vietnam as a responsible member of the international community, and is a concretization of Vietnam's international commitments in the field of criminal justice and cooperation in combating crime.
