On the afternoon of August 8th, local time, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf presided over the official welcoming ceremony for Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his pleasure at visiting Iran, a country with a unique culture and long history, especially at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Vietnam always values its friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation with Iran, one of its important partners in the Middle East region.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf expressed admiration for Vietnam's glorious history and achievements. He welcomed and highly appreciated the visit of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue. Iran always attaches importance to further promoting friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, an important partner in the Asia-Pacific region.
During the talks, the two leaders exchanged views and agreed on measures to enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation in various fields. These included strengthening exchanges of delegations at all levels, promoting people-to-people, cultural, and artistic exchanges; and enhancing cooperation between committees and agencies of the National Assemblies and Friendship Parliamentary Groups of both sides. The two countries will continue to coordinate and support each other in international forums, and prepare well for the 10th Session of the Vietnam-Iran Intergovernmental Committee in Hanoi.
Economically, both sides agreed to strengthen meetings and connections between localities and businesses of the two countries to seek opportunities for business cooperation and investment; and to create conditions for each country's strong products to penetrate the other's market.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue requested Iran to increase imports of Vietnamese agricultural products such as rice, tea, pepper, coffee, and rubber, and also expressed his readiness to facilitate Iran's export of dried fruits and other fruits to Vietnam.
Both sides agreed to cooperate in producing products according to halal standards. The two leaders also agreed to strengthen customs cooperation and resume cooperation mechanisms such as the Joint Working Group on Banking Cooperation and the Vietnam-Iran Trade Working Group… to seek breakthroughs for economic and trade cooperation.
The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament stated that Iranian businesses are increasingly interested in the Vietnamese market, appreciating the political stability and investment and business environment, and wishing to cooperate with Vietnam in economics, trade, and agriculture.
The two leaders also discussed various measures to promote cooperation in other potential areas such as science and technology, digital transformation, education and training, student exchange, and enhancing tourism promotion and attraction.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue respectfully invited the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament to pay an official visit to Vietnam soon. Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf happily accepted the invitation and requested relevant agencies of both sides to make arrangements promptly.
The Speaker of the National Assembly invited the Iranian Parliament to send a delegation to attend the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians to be held in Hanoi next September.
Also on August 8th, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
The Iranian President warmly welcomed the visit of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, affirming that the visit marks a new stage in the history of relations between the two countries in general and between the two National Assemblies in particular.
Both sides expressed pleasure at the positive developments in bilateral relations. Building on the foundation of traditional cooperation and friendship, the two leaders exchanged views and agreed on measures to promote cooperation in the coming period to match the great potential of the two countries.
The two leaders agreed to strengthen exchanges of delegations at all levels and through all channels to further enhance political trust, laying the foundation for the development of multifaceted relations between Vietnam and Iran.
Regarding the economy, the Speaker of the National Assembly suggested that both sides create favorable conditions for each other's strong products, especially agricultural and aquatic products, to penetrate each other's markets; strengthen trade and investment promotion, connect businesses and localities of the two countries; and promote cooperation in education and training, science and technology, culture and arts.
The Iranian president expressed his hope that the parliaments of both countries would support and continue to play an active role in reviewing and monitoring the implementation of agreements between the two countries.
The Chairman of the National Assembly conveyed President Vo Van Thuong's invitation to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to visit Vietnam soon. President Ebrahim Raisi happily accepted the invitation and expressed his desire to welcome President Vo Van Thuong on an official visit to Iran soon.
During the visit, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue also met with Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Abbas Aliabadi and Chairman of the Iran-Vietnam Friendship Association Seyed Kamal Sajjadi.
