On October 22nd, Nguyen Hoang Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, inspected the work of preventing and responding to Typhoon No. 12 at the coastal erosion remediation project in An Phu commune (formerly Quang Ngai City).

Accompanying him were Ngo Van Trong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; leaders of the Provincial Police, the Provincial Military Command, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Construction, the Department of Finance, and the Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works.
The project to remedy and prevent coastal erosion in An Phu commune is being invested in as an emergency project, with the Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works acting as the investor.

The project aims to protect the safety of residents living along the coast, while also safeguarding the anti-erosion embankment and the coastal concrete road.
The project includes a 250-meter-long embankment, a set of steps leading up and down, and a drainage culvert connecting the residential area to the sea. The total investment is 30 billion VND from the provincial budget. The project commenced on July 8, 2025, and is expected to be completed on November 30, 2025.
Immediately after the commencement of construction, the contractor mobilized manpower, worked overtime, and accelerated the progress. To date, the construction volume has reached 92% of the contract value. The entire Tetrapod along the 250-meter-long embankment has been installed, helping to block sea waves and ensuring construction safety.
The embankment is currently under construction up to an elevation of +3.0 m, ensuring safety conditions during the rainy and stormy season. The installation of H-shaped structural components will be completed before October 25, 2025, and the entire project will be completed on schedule by the end of November 2025.
Following an on-site inspection, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Giang highly appreciated the efforts of the Project Management Board and the contractor in accelerating progress and ensuring construction quality.
At the same time, it was emphasized that, according to forecasts, Typhoon No. 12 will directly affect the central region, including Quang Ngai; the post-typhoon circulation may cause heavy rain and a high risk of landslides. Therefore, contractors need to increase manpower and equipment, accelerate progress, and ensure that the project meets standards for withstanding tidal surges and large waves.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that all units closely monitor the developments of the storm, proactively implement storm and flood prevention and control plans in accordance with the directives of the Central Government and the province; and at the same time, take measures to protect materials, machinery, and equipment during the storm's landfall.
He noted that contractors must adhere to the principle of "minimizing property damage to the lowest possible level, and especially preventing any loss of life."
Earlier, on the afternoon of October 21st, the Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Hoang Giang, chaired a meeting to implement measures to respond to Typhoon No. 12 and the resulting floods in the area. At the meeting, he requested that localities absolutely not be complacent and focus their utmost efforts on directing, inspecting, supervising, and implementing response measures.
The province has directed a strict ban on ships going out to sea, requiring timely notification to fishermen about the location and direction of the storm's movement to enable proactive prevention; at the same time, it is reviewing and clearly defining natural disaster scenarios, supplementing response plans appropriate to each level of risk. Local authorities are proactively deploying forces, equipment, supplies, food, and essential goods in areas at risk of being cut off or isolated to be ready for rescue operations when needed.
For ongoing construction projects, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the investors and project management boards to implement measures to ensure absolute safety for people, vehicles, and construction sites, preventing any damage caused by storms and heavy rain.
