Within the framework of the working program of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife's official visit to South Korea from June 30 to July 3, 2024, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, Vo Van Hung, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SK Group and SK E&S Company on investment cooperation, energy transformation, and green growth in Quang Tri province, in the presence of the Prime Minister and leaders of ministries and agencies of both Vietnam and South Korea.

Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Vo Van Hung, highly appreciated the proactive approach of SK Group in proposing initiatives and cooperation roadmaps. He also informed SK Group that the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee had requested the Prime Minister and central ministries and agencies to consider and approve the conversion of coal fuel to LNG for the Quang Tri Thermal Power Plant in the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone, and to update the project in the Power Plan VIII and increase the plant's capacity from 1,320 MW to 1,500 MW.
In addition to coordinating the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding, and drawing on SK Group's experience in multi-sectoral and multi-field development, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung also requested SK Group to pay attention to and support Quang Tri province in training local human resources. In particular, he emphasized the need to focus on developing human resources to support SK's future initiatives, while affirming the province's strong commitment to the implementation of cooperative projects.
Chairman and CEO of SK E&S, Choo Hyeongwook, highly appreciated the goodwill, cooperation, and proactive approach of Quang Tri province in promoting energy projects in the province. He affirmed SK Group's interest and priority in implementing energy solutions, noting that the immediate priority is proposing the conversion of coal-fired power projects to more environmentally friendly gas-fired power projects.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Vo Van Hung, also met with representatives of K Global-Mobility/Korea (TataDaewoo) regarding their proposed project for truck maintenance, parts export, and truck assembly plant in Quang Tri.
Following that, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung participated in a meeting with the Speaker of the Korean National Assembly and other important activities as assigned by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
