According to Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Chairwoman of the Son Tay Ward People's Committee, the "Mid-Autumn Festival at the Ancient Citadel - Son Tay in the Doai Region" program is one of the events that has become a "brand" of Son Tay.
In 2025, the "Mid-Autumn Festival in the Ancient Citadel - Son Tay, Doai Region" program will be organized by the ward from September 13th to October 4th (corresponding to the 22nd day of the 7th lunar month to the 13th day of the 8th lunar month) with a series of activities: Lion, dragon, and unicorn dance performances; a competition for the most beautiful Mid-Autumn lantern models, modeled after historical figures, folk legends, favorite animals in fairy tales and fables, or images considered cultural symbols or characteristic products of each unit...
Thanks to the skillful and creative hands of the people in the residential areas, the Mid-Autumn Festival lantern models are not only beautiful in form but also have educational significance, helping children and tourists better understand national culture, so that every citizen of Son Tay can be even more proud of the "Mid-Autumn Festival at the Ancient Citadel - Son Tay in the Doai region" program.
In addition, children will also participate in experiential activities such as: making star lanterns and revolving lanterns; sculpting clay figurines; making mooncakes; playing traditional folk games; taking photos in Mid-Autumn Festival settings...
The highlight of the event will be the art program "Mid-Autumn Festival Night - Son Tay Ancient Citadel - Doai Land" taking place at 7:30 PM on October 4th (Saturday, August 13th of the lunar calendar) at the main stage in the Son Tay Ancient Citadel pedestrian street area, with the participation of 57 residential groups in a lantern parade.
The organizing committee of the Mid-Autumn Festival will award prizes for: the Mid-Autumn lantern model competition; lion and dragon dance performances; and gifts for underprivileged children in the ward. The Mid-Autumn Festival program will also feature comedians and various entertainment acts, creating moments of relaxation, laughter, and witty performances for young audiences and visitors.
The activities of the "Mid-Autumn Festival at Son Tay Ancient Citadel - Doai Region" program in 2025 will be organized in conjunction with the pedestrian area surrounding the moat of Son Tay Ancient Citadel, aiming to preserve and promote traditional cultural values and restore the beauty of the Mid-Autumn Festival of old Hanoi; creating a cultural space and tourist destination for Son Tay and surrounding areas.
