Turn determination into practical action.
At the first Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in Son Tay Ward, for the 2025-2030 term, the goal of mobilizing social welfare resources of 2-3 billion VND was set as a profound political commitment to caring for the lives of the people, especially the vulnerable. Under the leadership of the Ward Party Committee, the member organizations of the Fatherland Front quickly got involved, transforming determination into concrete actions.
Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son Tay Ward, Hua Duc Tuan, shared that for the poor, a sturdy house is not only an asset but also a source of hope for a better life. The construction and repair of "Great Solidarity Houses" in Son Tay in 2025 successfully connected resources from the community, banks, and social organizations to support four cases with particularly difficult circumstances.

A typical example is Mr. Phung Van Song in residential area 1, Ai Mo, a poor household whose old house was struggling under the sun and rain. On the morning of October 11, 2025, in the presence of the authorities and the people, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a solidarity house took place, much to the joy of Mr. Song's family and the shared happiness of relatives and neighbors. The 60 million VND support from the Vietnam Investment and Development Bank - Son Tay Branch became a warm building block, igniting hope for a stable life for Mr. Song's family and providing motivation to stabilize their livelihood.
In addition to supporting disadvantaged families in building new homes or repairing existing ones, the Fatherland Front and businesses in Son Tay ward also focus on alleviating the persistent suffering of victims of Agent Orange/dioxin. In October 2025, the Son Tay Ward Fatherland Front, in coordination with the Hanoi City Agent Orange Victims Fund and benefactors, provided 50 million VND per household for home repairs to two exemplary cases: the family of Mr. Chu Van Dang in Tien Huan residential group 1 and Mr. Bui Duc Van in Phu Khang residential group. These home repair support funds carry profound humanitarian significance, helping Agent Orange victims have safe shelters and demonstrating the community's gratitude and responsibility towards those who have suffered great losses for their homeland and country.
Working together to care for vulnerable groups.
The Fatherland Front of Son Tay Ward and its member organizations continue to play a leading role in mobilizing social resources and harnessing the people's strength to care for near-poor households and vulnerable groups, contributing to improving the quality of life through concrete and practical actions. The ward's "For the Poor" fund is always effectively maintained, ensuring that care for the people is carried out regularly. During the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, the warmth from the Party and the State was spread through 246 gifts worth a total of 142 million VND for near-poor households and households with special circumstances, helping them to celebrate a more fulfilling spring.

In particular, the rice support program of Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Dong Bac and Tran Thi Hang (currently residing in Northern Ireland) has created a sustainable support chain. Since the beginning of 2024, 60 disadvantaged households in Son Tay ward have received 10kg of rice per household per month. This is a valuable source of assistance, helping needy families reduce their daily expenses and affirming the Vietnamese spirit of "caring for others as oneself."

When natural disasters strike, the organizations in Son Tay ward always demonstrate their proactive role. Specifically, in response to the impact of Typhoon No. 5, the Son Tay Ward Fatherland Front quickly allocated funds from its relief fund, distributing 48 gift packages worth 33 million VND to provide emergency support to flood-affected households in residential areas 7, 10, and 11, helping them stabilize their lives; organized fundraising for flood victims and transferred nearly 800 million VND to the account of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City; and raised over 600 million VND for the "For the Poor" Fund in 2025.
Member organizations also demonstrated initiative in supporting members facing difficulties. The Ward Farmers' Association presented 15 gifts (500,000 VND each) to encourage members in need. The Ward Youth Union mobilized support for people affected by typhoons No. 10 and No. 11, following the directives of the Hanoi City Youth Union and the City Children's Council, with a total value of 50 million VND and many items including: 3,545 notebooks, 110 sets of textbooks, 448 pens, 69 boxes of instant noodles, 26 boxes of milk, 31 school bags, 10 boxes of dried food, 100 kg of rice, and 23 boxes of water. In addition, implementing the "Winter for Children - Warmth in the Highlands" program, the Ward Youth Union donated a playground and 20 gifts to children and teenagers in Niem Son commune, Tuyen Quang province, with a total value of over 40 million VND.

The ward's trade union also intensified propaganda and mobilization efforts among grassroots trade unions to implement the "Trade Union Meal" program in 2025; proactively developed a plan to review union members with particularly difficult housing circumstances to support them with "Trade Union Shelters" and organized "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude to the Party" for union members and workers during the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026.
Returning to their hometowns with backpacks from the battlefield, veterans of Son Tay ward continue to contribute to their homeland, helping each other develop the economy, reduce poverty, and build houses of camaraderie. According to Do Phong, Chairman of the Son Tay Ward Veterans Association, to help members develop their economy, create jobs, increase income, and improve their quality of life, the Association has effectively utilized loan capital from the Social Policy Bank and the National Employment Fund, supporting over 300 member families with preferential loans totaling over 26.7 billion VND from the Social Policy Bank; the Cam Boi Co-existence Fund has reached over 4.68 billion VND to date.
In addition, the Association also encourages well-off and wealthy members to help disadvantaged members by providing loans, creating jobs, and sharing experiences. The preferential loan funds are strictly managed by the Association, ensuring that support is given to the right people for the right purposes, and that members use the funds transparently. In 2025, the Association will coordinate with the Fatherland Front Committee of the ward to review three disadvantaged households and submit proposals for them to receive support for house repairs.

Meanwhile, the Women's Union of Son Tay Ward has developed two new scrap collection models, collecting over 300 kg of scrap, equivalent to over 10 million VND, to support social welfare. During the year, the Women's Union of the ward provided 3 million VND to children with serious illnesses, 500,000 VND to orphans, 1 million VND to repair houses for two disadvantaged families, donated 10 Mid-Autumn Festival gifts worth 3 million VND to disadvantaged children; donated gifts to 10 disabled women (3 million VND); registered to assist 23 disadvantaged households; introduced jobs to 116 workers and supported 13 members in starting businesses with loans totaling 1.1 billion VND…
To ensure a continuous flow of compassion, the Fatherland Front of Son Tay ward has strengthened and promoted the role of 57 Front Work Committees in residential areas, creating a solid network that helps to quickly and accurately identify difficult circumstances and allocate support.
From new, sturdy houses and generous rice rations to the warmth of Tet celebrations and sharing in times of hardship, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations of Son Tay ward have truly become a bridge, creating a living space filled with human kindness.
According to Mr. Hua Duc Tuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son Tay Ward: In 2026, the Son Tay Ward Fatherland Front Committee strives to mobilize the "For the Poor" Fund to meet and exceed the assigned target; maintain the status of having no poor households according to the city's multidimensional poverty standard; care for the material and spiritual lives of the people; coordinate the implementation of social welfare programs; support poor households, disadvantaged households, and vulnerable people in the community; and contribute to the continued successful implementation of economic, cultural, political security, and social order and safety tasks in the ward in the coming years.
