Recognizing the growing trend of online shopping among consumers, many farmers in Binh Duong province have quickly connected with e-commerce platforms and social networks to increase sales revenue, while continuing to maintain their business at traditional markets.

Currently, Binh Duong province has over 2,000 organizations and individuals registered to participate in e-commerce platforms, and 17,000 organizations and individuals in the agricultural sector have registered accounts to buy and sell on these platforms. The plan to support agricultural producers in joining e-commerce platforms and promote the development of the digital economy in agriculture and rural areas in the province has set a target of having over 50% of agricultural producers with digital storefronts on e-commerce platforms and over 60% with electronic payment accounts by the end of 2025. To sustainably develop the e-commerce market and promote trade, in 2024, the province will continue to promote the application of information technology and implement digital transformation in the agricultural sector.

Digital transformation contributes to increasing the total agricultural and forestry product in the region. To date, Binh Duong province has 219 products that have achieved OCOP 3-4 stars and are sold on e-commerce platforms. The OCOP program has created positive signals, becoming a driving force for the economic development of rural areas. The economic value of products has increased by 20% or more thanks to meeting OCOP criteria.

Digital technology has brought products to consumers faster, resulting in a 20% - 50% increase in sales for businesses, with online sales and e-commerce platforms accounting for 30% of that increase. Strengthening the linkage of agricultural product consumption on e-commerce platforms is considered the optimal solution to create new, modern distribution channels.

In addition, the People's Committee of Binh Duong province has issued plans to support agricultural producers to participate in e-commerce platforms, promoting the development of the digital economy in agriculture and rural areas to connect, promote, and introduce products, and expand markets. Accordingly, agricultural products from the province have participated in transactions on platforms such as postmart.vn, voso.vn, binhduongtrade.vn, foodmap, etc. It can be seen that expanding the consumption of agricultural products on e-commerce platforms helps build brands, promote, introduce, and expand markets for Binh Duong's OCOP products increasingly strongly.

By using trade promotion as a driving force and digital transformation as a foundation, the OCOP program aims for the efficient and sustainable development of OCOP products, especially through connecting with modern distribution channels that are suitable for changes in consumer demand and the market. OCOP entities have proactively applied digital transformation in the production, processing, and promotion stages of their products, such as applying traceability systems combined with QR codes and introducing products through social media.

The results show that digital transformation has helped the agricultural sector in general and producers in particular to promote their products more widely, increase sales, expand distribution channels, and achieve the goal of bringing local OCOP products to the global market. According to the head of the Rural Development Sub-Department of Binh Duong province, the goal is for 100% of communes in the province to have products participating in the OCOP program by 2025.

Livestreaming (selling online) OCOP products is an effective way to consume agricultural products in the digital environment.

Simultaneously, at least 150 entities registered to participate in the OCOP program; at least 80 products achieving 3 stars or higher were certified as provincial-level OCOP products, and at least 3 products achieving 5 stars were certified as national-level OCOP products. To achieve these goals, the province has implemented comprehensive solutions, focusing on leveraging local advantages, forming and developing concentrated commodity production areas, developing products that meet VietGAP, GlobalGAP, HACCP standards, etc., and strengthening resources and building mechanisms to support entities participating in the OCOP product cycle.

In addition, the province's agricultural sector also focuses on product traceability, issuing planting area codes, ensuring quality processes for export, promoting the application of information technology and digital transformation, and building a database management system for OCOP products…

Simultaneously, the sector is strengthening the effectiveness of state management and actively promoting awareness of the development of OCOP products associated with digital transformation in agriculture and rural areas. To promote digital transformation in all aspects and fields, starting in 2021, the People's Committee of Binh Duong province issued Decision No. 816/QD-UBND promulgating the plan for digital transformation of Binh Duong province for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030.

This emphasizes digital transformation in the field of high-tech agricultural development towards urban agriculture, smart agriculture, and precision agriculture; applying information technology and digital technology to agricultural and non-agricultural products and services with advantages in each locality along the value chain according to the province's OCOP5 program;

Applying digital technology in quality management, traceability, geographical indications, food safety, disease surveillance, guidance, and encouraging farmers to implement e-commerce in agriculture, focusing on some key products of the province: livestock (chicken, pig), citrus fruits, etc.; Digital transformation in agricultural management to propose appropriate and timely policies and operations based on market forecasts and warnings, disease warnings, and planning management.

It can be said that expanding the promotion and consumption of agricultural products on e-commerce platforms and social media through various forms has contributed to bringing OCOP products from Binh Duong province closer and faster to consumers nationwide, aiming for effective and sustainable development of local OCOP products, meeting the needs of people in the market inside and outside the province.
