On August 29, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province sent a report to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on the transfer of management of Thanh Hoa Club in the face of changes related to the team's leadership.
Previously, late on the evening of August 28, Cao Tien Doan, chairman of the board of directors of Dong A Real Estate Group Company Limited, who is also chairman of Thanh Hoa Football Club, had his workplace urgently searched by the provincial police investigation agency.
The report stated that Thanh Hoa Club was transferred to Dong A Real Estate Group Company Limited in November 2020 and renamed Dong A Thanh Hoa Club, competing from V-League 2021 to present.
To ensure the continued operation of Thanh Hoa Club to compete in the 2025-2026 season, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism respectfully submits to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for consideration:
Assign the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to direct the Thanh Hoa Football Federation to immediately take over, manage and operate Thanh Hoa Club.
Preside over and coordinate with relevant units to maintain training and participate in competitions to ensure the regulations of the organizing committee of the V-League 2025 - 2026.
At the same time, research and advise the Provincial People's Committee to invite qualified organizations, individuals, businessmen and enterprises to take over the football team in accordance with the regulations of professional football.
Report to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to review contents beyond authority.
Thanh Hoa FC is currently at the bottom of the 2025-2026 V-League, having only earned 1 point in the first 3 matches of the season. This sudden transfer has made the journey ahead even more difficult for coach Choi Won Kwon and his team.
Thanh Hoa Club still maintains training on the afternoon of August 29, before being "released" for the National Day holiday on September 2.
According to the Investigation Police Agency of Thanh Hoa Province Police, the unit recently received a report from a citizen denouncing Mr. Cao Tien Doan's illegal behavior.
During the investigation, the investigation agency determined that Mr. Cao Tien Doan had violated accounting regulations causing serious consequences, as prescribed in Article 221 of the 2015 Penal Code.
Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Investigation Agency is continuing to clarify Mr. Cao Tien Doan's violations to handle them according to the law.
