(Dan Tri Newspaper) - Steel stocks saw mixed performance, with Hoa Phat 's HPG stock rising 2.76%. Billionaire Tran Dinh Long's stock market assets recovered compared to the end of last week, reaching over 43,000 billion VND.

At the close of trading today (February 11th), steel sector stocks showed strong divergence. Stocks that rose in price included HPG (Hoa Phat), NKG (Nam Kim), SMC (SMC Investment and Trading), etc.

Conversely, some stocks declined, such as HSG (Hoa Sen), TIS ( Thai Nguyen Steel), GDA (Ton Dong A)... Some stocks maintained their prices, such as TLH (Tien Len Steel) and TVN (Vietnam Steel Corporation).

Notably, HPG shares rose 2.76%, to 26,100 VND per unit. Trading volume was also among the top 3 on the market, at nearly 29 million shares. Foreign investors were the largest net buyers of this stock on the HoSE exchange, with a net purchase value of nearly 50 billion VND.

Yesterday, HPG shares fell 4.69%, causing the assets of Mr. Tran Dinh Long - Chairman of Hoa Phat Group - to decrease by more than 2,000 billion VND compared to the end of last week, down to 41,910 billion VND. Including his wife, children, and other family members, Mr. Long's family's stock market assets decreased by approximately 2,800 billion VND.

During today's trading session, as HPG shares recovered compared to yesterday, Mr. Long's net worth was approximately VND 43,065 billion, nearly reaching the level of the end of last week.

Today marks the second trading day after news broke that US President Donald Trump announced a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports into the US.

Experts believe that Trump's tariff policy will not significantly affect Vietnamese businesses. The group most affected is the galvanized steel sheet sector, due to its large export volume to the US. For example, Ton Dong A's exports to the US account for about 35%, Nam Kim about 25%, and Hoa Sen 15%. Hoa Phat's exports to the US are less than 5%.

Returning to the overall market developments, the VN-Index rose 5.19 points to 1,268.45 points. The HoSE and HNX exchanges were mostly in the green. The VN30 index was the mainstay of the market, increasing by 7.52 points.

The main index was strongly influenced by leading industry stocks such as FPT, HPG, and banking stocks including TCB,SHB , SSB, MBB, and TPB. Conversely, some stocks negatively impacted the VN-Index, such as MWG, GMD, SSI, PNJ, and VCB...

Foreign investors continued to be net sellers in today's session, with net selling exceeding 580 billion VND on the HoSE alone. Among them, MWG saw the strongest net selling (115 billion VND), followed by VNM (97 billion VND), SSI (91 billion VND), and GMD (89 billion VND).
