Police warn cars against crossing Trung Ha bridge connecting Hanoi - Phu Tho

Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí02/09/2024

On the evening of September 2nd, the Phu Tho Provincial Police issued a notice stating that the Trung Ha bridge (km 64+639, National Highway 32), connecting Ba Vi district ( Hanoi ) with Tam Nong district (Phu Tho), is undergoing road surface repair work, and only one lane of traffic is allowed across the bridge.

The police believe that repairing the Trung Ha bridge could easily cause traffic congestion during periods of high traffic volume.

Therefore, the Phu Tho Provincial Police recommend and guide people who need to travel from Phu Tho or through Phu Tho province to Hanoi to choose the following routes:

Route 1: National Highway 32 (Tam Nong District) crosses Phong Chau Bridge → takes National Highway 32C (bypassing Viet Tri City, Phu Tho Province) or National Highway 2D → crosses Van Lang Bridge → goes to Ba Vi District, Hanoi. Vehicles from Hanoi to Phu Tho Province follow the reverse route.

Second route: National Highway 32 (Tam Nong District) → Provincial Road 317G → Provincial Road 317E → Dong Quang Bridge → Ba Vi District, Hanoi. Vehicles traveling from Hanoi to Phu Tho follow the reverse route.

Additionally, vehicles traveling from Phu Tho to Hanoi and vice versa can use the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway or National Highway 2.

Trung Ha Bridge is a concrete bridge spanning the lower reaches of the Da River; construction began in November 1999 and it was inaugurated in April 2002.

The Trung Ha Bridge is 743.6 meters long, consists of 14 spans, is 11 meters wide, and has a permanent structure made of prestressed reinforced concrete; the navigable clearance is 90 meters wide and 7 meters high.

Images of the Trung Ha bridge pillars, with exposed steel and many broken concrete blocks, reported by Dan Tri newspaper in January of this year, attracted public attention. Signs at both ends of the Trung Ha bridge prohibit trucks with 3 axles or more and passenger buses with more than 29 seats from crossing.

The Phu Tho Provincial Department of Transport has issued guidelines for traffic flow between Phu Tho province and Hanoi city and vice versa.
