In implementing the Plan for Reorganizing Military Enterprises for the period 2021-2025, as per Decision No. 66/QD-TT of the Prime Minister, on September 19, 2025, the Minister of National Defense signed Decision No. 4668/QD-BQP on the reorganization of Song Thu Corporation. This includes transferring the functions, tasks, and personnel of the X50 Factory from its departments, divisions, and production workshops to the departments and enterprises under Song Thu Corporation. This is a major policy of the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense in response to the need to build a lean, efficient, and strong army capable of defending the Fatherland in the new situation.

Speaking at the conference, Colonel Dinh Truong Son, General Director of Song Thu Corporation, stated: The merger of Factory X50 into Song Thu Corporation is not merely an administrative decision, but a turning point in the process of forming a modern, streamlined, and specialized production organization model for Vietnam's defense industry. Song Thu Corporation – formerly Song Thu Company, established in 1976 – has now become one of Vietnam's key defense enterprises in the field of modern shipbuilding and ship repair.

Over more than four decades of development and growth, Song Thu Corporation has built hundreds of ships serving national defense, security, civilian needs, and export; gradually mastering modern shipbuilding technology, cooperating with many international partners, and building a reputable brand in domestic and international markets. Factory X50 is a unit with a long tradition, a skilled workforce, and a commitment to shipbuilding and repair, especially in the field of repairing and ensuring the technical maintenance of military vessels for the Navy and other forces protecting maritime sovereignty and islands.

Following the merger, Song Thu Corporation identified three strategic directions and five key task groups to ensure sustainable, efficient, and long-term stable development. The three strategic directions are: Restructuring the organization and management for a lean and efficient structure; building a professional and unified management model, clearly defining the functions, tasks, and powers of each member unit, with X50 becoming the main facility for repairing and maintaining military vessels; modernizing infrastructure, technology, and production capacity; investing in upgrading the port system, workshops, and equipment; applying advanced production processes; digitizing management, aiming for a "smart" model that saves energy and is environmentally friendly; developing human resources, corporate culture, and brand; training, nurturing, and planning for personnel; building a unified corporate culture of respect, solidarity, and progress. In his directive speech at the conference, Major General Pham Thanh Khiet, Deputy Head and Chief of Staff of the General Department of Defense Industry, requested that Song Thu Corporation fully take over the functions, tasks, rights, responsibilities, obligations, and all aspects of work of Factory X50, especially organizing the efficient production and repair of ongoing contracts, and ensuring the technical maintenance of military vessels for units; developing comprehensive and feasible solutions to effectively implement the targets and tasks set out in the Resolution of the Party Congress of the Corporation for the 2025-2030 term, especially implementing breakthroughs, leading and directing the effective implementation of the production and business development strategy and investment development; and focusing on leading the successful completion of assigned national defense production tasks from various budget sources. Research and make good use of specific mechanisms and policies in implementing the Law on National Defense and Security Industry and industrial mobilization, especially regarding investment, finance, science and technology, attracting and utilizing talent; innovate thinking, act creatively, decisively, and make breakthroughs in development; effectively implement Party work and political work, do a good job of political education, and have a firm grasp of the ideological situation within the unit…
