Even in some schools, candidates with international language certificates will receive an additional 0.75 points when combined with their ability assessment scores, thinking scores, or high school graduation exam scores.
Currently, many schools have announced their 2025 enrollment plans. Many schools allow candidates to convert IELTS scores, combined with many other factors for admission consideration.
This year's admission season, at some universities, with an IELTS certificate of 4.0 or higher, candidates will be converted into English subject scores. The majority of the remaining schools accept certificates from 5.0 to 6.6 or higher.
Diplomatic Academy has the highest requirements. Candidates must have IELTS 8.5 to be counted as 10 points.
The National Economics University has just announced the method of calculating admission scores for each admission method in 2025. Accordingly, candidates with international English certificates have a distinct advantage when applying for combined admission to the school.
Accordingly, the school adds 0.75 points to all candidates with international English certificates, regardless of high or low scores. For example, candidates with IELTS 5.5 or 9.0 will receive the same 0.75 points.
At the same time, candidates can convert IELTS and foreign language certificates into component scores. If they get 5.5 IELTS, the National Economics University will convert it to 8/10 points. If they get 7.5 IELTS or more, they will be counted as 10. This conversion level is the same as last year.
Thus, if candidates register for the National Economics University using the combined IELTS and graduation exam scores, they will receive an additional 0.75 points and can use the converted certificate score to replace the English subject in the admission combination.

The trend of using IELTS certificates in university admissions has appeared since 2017 and has become increasingly popular. In recent years, about 100 universities from different groups have applied this form of admission.
Also according to the university admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, schools are allowed to convert foreign language certificates into scores for this subject to include in the admission combination, but the weighting cannot exceed 50%.
In addition, the Ministry stipulates that the incentive points and bonus points for candidates with foreign language certificates must not exceed 10% of the maximum score on the scale (for example, a maximum of 3 points on a scale of 30). At the same time, schools must ensure that no candidate has an admission score (including bonus points and regional and subject priority points) exceeding the maximum. Thus, if a candidate scores 30 points according to the admission combination, having a foreign language certificate is almost meaningless.
