In recent days, the Latin American media has simultaneously published and praised the significance of the signing ceremony and the High-Level Conference of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime that recently took place in Hanoi , considering this a historic milestone in international cooperation to ensure cyber security, while affirming the position, prestige and organizational capacity of Vietnam when being chosen as the host of this global event.

According to a VNA correspondent in Latin America, in an article titled “The United Nations calls for the protection of people in cyberspace,” Venezuela’s teleSUR multimedia channel affirmed that Vietnam’s hosting of this global event clearly demonstrates the host country’s active role in promoting multilateralism, creating a space for dialogue and substantive cooperation between countries, and quoted UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as emphasizing that “Hanoi is the perfect venue for this historic moment,” demonstrating the international community’s appreciation of Vietnam’s organizational capacity and growing prestige in the international arena.

At the same time, the official portal of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Spanish stated that the signing ceremony of the Convention in Hanoi attracted the participation of representatives of dozens of countries and territories, including many Latin American countries such as Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay and Venezuela.

According to UNODC, the organization of the event in Vietnam is symbolic of international solidarity, laying the foundation for a transnational cooperation mechanism in collecting digital evidence, protecting users and preventing cybercrime.

Meanwhile, Mexico's El Economista newspaper commented that the signing of the Hanoi Convention by dozens of countries marked an important step towards forming a common legal framework to strengthen international cooperation in fighting digital crimes - from online fraud, money laundering to child sexual exploitation in cyberspace.

El Economista quoted experts' assessment that choosing Hanoi as the venue for the signing ceremony was "a strong message about Vietnam's trust and growing role in global issues."

In the article, El Economista asserts that “every day, sophisticated frauds ruin families, rob migrants of their assets and cost the global economy billions of dollars. We need a strong and united global response.”

This call also became the main spirit of the Summit in Hanoi - where Vietnam clearly affirmed its role as a bridge of cooperation, a symbol of a proactive, responsible and trustworthy country in the international community's joint efforts to ensure global cyber security.

Latin American media also particularly highlighted the positive impact of the Convention on the region, which is accelerating its digital transformation but still faces the growing risk of cross-border cybercrime.

According to teleSUR, the fact that many Latin American countries signed the Convention in Hanoi demonstrates the region's determination to strengthen the legal corridor, promote international cooperation and ensure a safe and fair cyberspace for all people./.
