Rescued father and son drifting at sea for hours

Lieutenant Colonel Doan Duc Long, Chief of Lach Ken Border Guard Station (Ha Tinh Provincial Border Guard Command) said: On the morning of July 31, at coordinates 18.39.8433, the transport ship VINASINE 555 - QN: 8425 rescued a father and son who had been drifting at sea for many hours.

The rescued father and daughter are Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung (born in 1990) and his daughter Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh (born in 2019), residing in Truong Vinh ward, Nghe An province. The health and spirit of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung and his daughter are currently stable.

Previously, at around 6:30 p.m. on July 30, Nguyen Thanh Tung and his son were wearing life jackets while swimming in a boat at Xuan Thanh Tourist Area, Tien Dien Commune, Ha Tinh Province, when they were pushed away by waves and wind and disappeared.

Immediately after receiving information that two beachgoers were missing, Lach Ken Border Guard Station quickly mobilized officers and soldiers to coordinate with related units, authorities and people to bring ships and boats to the scene, conducting search and rescue operations throughout the night. Ha Tinh province has issued a notice requesting units to deploy search and rescue operations.

At 6:30 a.m. on July 31, crew members on the transport ship VINASINE 555 - QN: 8425, which was en route from Ninh Binh to Dung Quat (Quang Ngai), discovered and promptly approached and rescued Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung and his son.
