On November 5th, the People's Committee of Mai Hoa commune (Tuyen Hoa district, Quang Binh province) reported that a man had been swept away by floodwaters and gone missing in the area.

Accordingly, at approximately 4:30 PM on the same day, a 5th-grade student from Xuan Mai Primary School (Mai Hoa commune) was swept away by floodwaters while crossing a flooded area in Bac Hoa village.

Upon discovering the incident, Mr. Cao Van C. (born in 1971, residing in Bac Hoa village) jumped into the water and rescued the child. However, unfortunately, Mr. C. was then swept away by the current and went missing.

Upon receiving the report, authorities arrived at the scene to search, but the child has not been found yet.

Over the past two days, heavy rains in Quang Binh province have caused river and stream levels in mountainous districts to rise, flooding many roads, underpasses, and bridges.

In Tuyen Hoa district, some areas are flooded to a depth of 0.5 - 1 meter. Roads leading to some villages and inter-communal roads in Lam Hoa, Mai Hoa, Ngu Hoa, Thach Hoa, and Dong Hoa communes are also heavily flooded, causing localized traffic disruptions. 89 households with 373 people in these areas are temporarily isolated.

Heavy rains also caused landslides in Thuan Tien village, Thuan Hoa commune. Local authorities have evacuated 11 households with 41 people living in landslide-prone areas.

Landslides in the Phong Khong hill area of ​​Duc Hoa commune threaten many households below; local authorities have evacuated 66 households with 213 people to safe locations.

In Minh Hoa district, authorities coordinated the notification and organized the emergency relocation of 38 households with more than 140 people from the Cay Suong hill area in residential group 8, Quy Dat town, to prevent the risk of landslides.

The Cay Suong hill area has a very steep terrain and complex geology, with the height from the natural ground level of the houses to the hilltop being approximately 65-70m. In recent years, cracks and subsidence have begun to appear in this area.

Previously, on September 24th, the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee declared a state of emergency due to landslides in the area.
