According to Ho Ky Minh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, Da Nang is focusing on developing tourism , services, and high-tech industries, with the semiconductor sector being a key strategic direction.

The city is developing semiconductor technology in three directions: infrastructure, policies, and human resources. Da Nang has been preparing land, concentrated information technology zones, software parks, and high-tech zones for businesses to implement projects related to semiconductor technology and artificial intelligence.

Regarding policy, the City People's Council has passed three resolutions effective from January 1, 2025, to develop the semiconductor industry, by concretizing Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 of the National Assembly on the organization of urban government and piloting special mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city.

Regarding human resource training, in 2025, the city will continue to implement training courses for master trainers both domestically and internationally related to integrated circuit design and packaging testing.

Da Nang is also a locality permitted to pilot and develop new development models such as free trade zones and regional financial centers. In the near future, the Government will decide to establish the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, so the city hopes that JBIC Bank will consider introducing investors to the free trade zone.

Recently, the city launched the Hoa Ninh Industrial Park project in Hoa Ninh commune, Hoa Vang district, with a total area of 400 hectares and a total investment of over 6,200 billion VND. It is expected that a liquefied natural gas (LNG) thermal power plant project will be located there, making it a very promising investment opportunity.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged information to clarify key projects in Da Nang such as Hoa Ninh Industrial Park, the financial center, and the free trade zone. In addition, they discussed development directions in the semiconductor industry, tourism, and services.

JBIC is known to be a policy financial institution under the Japanese government with four main areas of activity: safeguarding natural resources, developing international business, protecting the global environment, and stabilizing financial order.

JBIC has supported a total of 344 projects in Vietnam worth over 950 billion Yen, including 3 manufacturing projects in Da Nang.

Besides manufacturing, JBIC plans to expand into projects aimed at strengthening the supply chains for critical minerals, semiconductors, and battery storage; and industrial production facilities to support the operations of Japanese companies, including information and communication infrastructure.
