Hanoi National University to make AI a compulsory subject from 2025

From the 2025-2026 school year, Hanoi National University will introduce digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) courses into teaching at all member schools.

According to the plan, the course "Introduction to digital technology and artificial intelligence applications" will be taught to all first-year students from September 2025, in the form of fully online training.

"In the context of strong digital transformation globally, equipping students with digital thinking and basic knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer an option, but has become a mandatory requirement," the school added.

The course consists of 3 credits, according to the module structure, including compulsory and elective components suitable for different training fields such as: Natural Sciences, Engineering - Technology, Social Sciences and Humanities, Economics - Law, Foreign Languages ​​and Educational Sciences...

The course provides basic knowledge and skills, as a premise for students to acquire specialized courses on technology and application of artificial intelligence in specialized fields of training.

The course "Introduction to digital technology and artificial intelligence applications" also focuses on updated content, approaching the digital competency framework of countries around the world such as: data mining, digital communication, creativity in digital environment, digital security, exploitation and application of artificial intelligence to serve learning and research in different career fields.

The course aims to equip students with creative and independent thinking, not dependent on artificial intelligence for students - the young generation of intellectuals, young human resources, while ensuring academic integrity and ethical issues, responsibility in the application of artificial intelligence.

This year, Hanoi National University will enroll more than 20,285 full-time undergraduate students for 12 member schools, an increase of 2,285 compared to last year. Of which, the University of Technology is assigned the largest enrollment target with 3,900 students (an increase of 940 students).

Next is the University of Social Sciences and Humanities with 2,650 quotas (an increase of 350 quotas); the University of Economics with 2,500 quotas (an increase of 150 quotas) and the University of Foreign Languages ​​with 2,400 quotas (an increase of 400 quotas).

In addition, Hanoi National University also assigned 1,500 enrollment quotas for the work-study program and 810 dual degree quotas to a number of training institutions.

The minimum score for admission based on high school graduation exam scores of Hanoi National University in 2024 is 20 points for all combinations.
