Ho Chi Minh City National University opens registration portal for the second round of capacity assessment exams

The second round of the competency assessment exam was organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University on Sunday morning, June 1 in 11 provinces/cities, including: Hue, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tien Giang and An Giang.

Open registration portal for competency assessment exam in 3 weeks

The registration portal for the second round of the 2025 capacity assessment exam has just been officially opened by Ho Chi Minh City National University from today, April 17 to May 7 .

Candidates can easily register for the exam through the online portal at: http://thinangluc.vnuhcm.edu.vn/ and pay the fee using one of the following e-wallets: Viettel Money, FPTPay, Momo and Payoo.

In case the candidate has registered for the first round (already has account information), there is no need to register account information from the beginning.

Step 1. Visit https://thinangluc.vnuhcm.edu.vn

Step 2: Log in to your account → enter your ID card number/CCCD, password -> click "Log in"

Step 3: Select to register for the second round of exams.

Step 4: Make payment.

Exam registration fee: 300,000 VND/exam (paid fees will not be refunded in any case).

In case candidates register for the first time (have not registered for the first round of the exam) to complete the registration for the Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment exam, candidates need to fully complete the requirements for information registration, exam location registration, and fee payment within the prescribed time.

Candidates will receive confirmation of payment status on their exam registration account immediately after successfully making payment according to the announced methods.

Candidates' examination fee payment must be completed before May 8 .

The results of the second round of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's aptitude test will be announced on June 16.

The exam notice will be available at the candidate's ability assessment registration account within 7 days before the official exam date. The exam notice will not be sent to the candidate's email or by post.

Candidates should not focus on solving questions and practicing for the exam.

According to the leader of Ho Chi Minh City National University, in the context of applying the 2018 General Education Program, the exam structure and competency assessment test from 2025 need to be adjusted appropriately.

Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh - Director of the Center for Testing and Training Quality Assessment of Ho Chi Minh City National University - said that in recent years, the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam has assessed candidates' core competencies for university study.

"To get good results in the competency assessment test, candidates only need to study well what is taught in school, not practice for the test. General teachers can fully support students to have enough knowledge to do well in the competency assessment test, without having to find review classes far away.

Candidates should not focus on solving exam questions, but should delve deeply into each lesson to understand the nature of the problem, thereby improving their own abilities," Mr. Chinh advised.

According to Mr. Chinh, the Center for Testing and Training Quality Assessment was assigned by Ho Chi Minh City National University to be in charge of related tasks of the competency assessment exam. This unit does not organize exam preparation, nor is it affiliated with any organization or individual related to competency assessment exam preparation activities.

The candidate with the highest score in the first round was 1,060 points.

The first round of the Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Exam in 2025 had 128,338 candidates registered from 2,063 high schools in 63 provinces/cities nationwide (an increase of 34.3% compared to the number of candidates registered in the first round of 2024, which was 95,548 candidates). 126,297 candidates attended the exam (the rate of taking the exam/registration was 98.4%).

The average score of the candidates was 618.4 points. The candidate with the highest score in the exam was 1,060 points and the candidate with the lowest score was 40 points.

This year, more than 100 universities and colleges will use the results of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Exam. Admissions will be conducted according to the general plan of the Ministry of Education and Training.
