Candidates should not focus solely on solving practice problems and preparing for the exam.
According to the leaders of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, in the context of applying the 2018 General Education Program, the structure of the aptitude test and exam questions from 2025 onwards need to be adjusted accordingly.
Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, director of the Center for Testing and Quality Assessment of Training at the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, said that in recent years, the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City's competency assessment exam has evaluated the core competencies of candidates for university studies.
"To achieve good results in the aptitude test, candidates only need to study well what is taught in school, not to attend test preparation courses. High school teachers can fully support students in acquiring sufficient knowledge to do well on the aptitude test, without needing to seek out distant tutoring classes."
"Candidates should not focus solely on solving exam questions, but should delve deeper into each lesson to understand the essence of the problem, thereby improving their own abilities," Mr. Chinh advised.
According to Mr. Chinh, the Center for Testing and Training Quality Assessment was assigned by Ho Chi Minh City National University to be in charge of the relevant tasks of the competency assessment exam. This unit does not organize exam preparation, nor is it associated with any organization or individual related to competency assessment exam preparation activities.
The candidate with the highest score in the first round of exams achieved 1,060 points.
The first phase of the 2025 National University of Ho Chi Minh City's aptitude test attracted 128,338 registered candidates from 2,063 high schools across 63 provinces/cities nationwide (a 34.3% increase compared to the 95,548 candidates registered in the first phase of 2024). 126,297 candidates actually participated in the exam (a participation rate of 98.4%).
The average score achieved by the candidates was 618.4 points. The highest score achieved by a candidate was 1,060 points, and the lowest score was 40 points.
This year, more than 100 universities and colleges will use the results of the 2025 National University of Ho Chi Minh City's competency assessment exam. The admissions process will follow the general plan of the Ministry of Education and Training.
