According to a report by the Dak Glong District Party Committee, in 2021 the locality reduced the number of cases by 2.9% and the area by 8.3%; in 2022, it reduced the number of cases by 12.5% and the area by 30.14%. In the first quarter of 2023 alone, functional forces detected and handled 50 cases of violations of forestry laws, of which 38 were related to deforestation, causing damage to over 11 hectares of forest.

According to Comrade Tran Nam Thuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Glong District, regarding forest management and protection, the district has issued numerous documents to provide decisive leadership and guidance. Every week, the district chairman and vice-chairman conduct field visits to the forest to assess the actual situation. However, forest management and protection face many difficulties. In the Quang Son area alone, the district has assigned the commune police force to review all residents living in the forest to conduct awareness campaigns, mobilize support, and take appropriate action. Furthermore, some forest management and protection units in the district have very weak organizational structures, operating in a state of "new wine in old bottles," with people building guard posts only to destroy forests in those locations, affecting forest management and protection efforts. Not to mention, deforestation is now carried out in sophisticated ways, and the workforce involved in forest management and protection is insufficient, making it difficult to carry out their duties.
Implementing Conclusions No. 840 and 120 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, to date, over 3.9 hectares of illegally encroached land have been recovered in Dak Ha commune.
Permission was granted and reforestation was carried out on the reclaimed land; Quang Son commune has reclaimed over 27 hectares of encroached forest land and planted pine trees. To improve the effectiveness of forest management and protection, the Provincial People's Committee also recently issued Decision No. 458 on reorganizing inter-district forest ranger units under the Provincial Forest Protection Department. In this decision, the Dak Glong District Forest Ranger Unit and the Gia Nghia City Forest Ranger Unit were merged into the Dak Glong – Gia Nghia Inter-district Forest Ranger Unit.
To help prevent deforestation and stabilize spontaneous migration, at the end of 2022, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 1740 approving the Project for Stabilizing Spontaneous Migrants in Dak Nong Province for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030. The goal is to essentially eliminate spontaneous migration by 2025; and to complete the resettlement of all spontaneously migrating households, approximately 5,450 households, including those in Dak Glong district.
Speaking at a recent working session between the Dak Nong Provincial Party Committee delegation and the Standing Committee of the Dak Glong District Party Committee, Comrade Le Trong Yen, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee, stated that although the number of incidents has decreased in forest management and protection, Dak Glong still has extremely complex hotspots.
Dak Glong needs to strengthen its management of forests, forest land, and the local population to curb deforestation and encroachment on forest land.
Comrade Le Trong Yen, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Nong Province
In this regard, the People's Committees at the commune level and the enterprises assigned to manage the forests must review their management and protection work according to their responsibilities. Dak Glong district needs to focus on forest areas where many households have built houses. Based on that, analyze the target groups to disseminate information, mobilize support, and develop specific solutions according to a roadmap.
