On the morning of October 21st, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports held a meeting with representatives from the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street Company Limited, VNPT Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications, the Saigon Ward People's Committee, and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction to further resolve related issues.

At the meeting, Bui Xuan Duc, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street Company Limited, said that before the establishment of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, the side of the building at 125 Hai Ba Trung Street (managed by Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications VNPT) had many entrances facing Nguyen Van Binh Street.
When the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street opened, these entrances gradually closed. In early June 2025, the reopening of these entrances was discussed and agreed upon by the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street Company and VNPT (Vietnam Post and Telecommunications). The Ho Chi Minh City Book Street Company also proactively removed the curtains and backdrops, ensuring unobstructed access for VNPT to carry out its collaborative activities with partners. Currently, visitors can easily enter and exit the area from either the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street or the building at 125 Hai Ba Trung Street without any problems.
However, the main concern for the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street is the type of merchandise that will be displayed inside the building at 125 Hai Ba Trung Street. Mr. Bui Xuan Duc stated: “The Ho Chi Minh City Book Street is a space dedicated to reading culture. If the goods displayed inside are not suitable for this space, it will be offensive and negatively impact residents and tourists visiting the book street. Therefore, in the previous meeting minutes, we expressed our desire for VNPT (Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications) to work with partners to arrange the merchandise displayed in this area in a way that is appropriate for a space focused on reading culture and books.”

Responding to concerns from representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, Tran Anh Vy, Head of Investment Department, Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications, VNPT, stated: “Currently, although the entrances to the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street are open, there is no buying or selling activity inside the building at 125 Hai Ba Trung Street. Following feedback from relevant parties and the public, we have removed the sign bearing the name “Russian Market” located on the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street side.”

During the meeting, the Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, stated: “From a management perspective, we always desire and support the development and improvement of cultural spaces in the city, but first and foremost, we must ensure harmony between these spaces. The Ho Chi Minh City Book Street is a successful model and has become a brand that we have strived to build over the past 10 years. In the context of Ho Chi Minh City after the merger, building on the success of the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, we also plan to develop book street spaces in Binh Duong and Vung Tau wards.”
Also at the meeting, representatives from Ho Chi Minh City Book Street Company Limited, Saigon Ward, and other relevant units discussed and resolved outstanding issues to expedite the arrangement of a new parking lot for the book street. The previous parking lot for the book street, located in front of building number 125 Hai Ba Trung Street, had to cease operations when the building was renovated and leased out to shops.
