This is Vietnam's first gold medal in wushu at the 2023 World Wushu Championships. Previously, Phuong Nhi won a silver medal for Vietnam in the men's saber event with a score of 9.743 points. The gold medal went to Wu Jianing (China) and the bronze medal to Lucy Lee (USA).

Up to this point, the Vietnamese delegation has won 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal, both by Dang Tran Phuong Nhi - a young woman who has grown up, trained, and competed for the Hanoi wushu team.
The Vietnamese wushu team is participating in the world championships with 13 athletes, including Duong Thuy Vi, Nguyen Thi Lan, Phuong Nga, Kieu Trang, Phuong Giang, Thu Thuy, Phuong Nhi, Manh Cuong, Duy Hai, Huy Hoang, Do Dat, Van Tam, and Van Huu.
In this program, the team provides opportunities for a number of young athletes to compete, thereby allowing for comparison and the identification of martial artists with potential for development.
After four years, the World Wushu Championships are being held again. The last time was in China in 2019, where the Vietnamese team won 1 gold medal, 4 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals.
This year's competition brings together over 500 athletes from 72 countries and territories. Both the men's and women's taolu events feature 11 sets of medals. Meanwhile, the sparring events compete in weight categories from 48 to 75kg, for both men and women. The competition runs until November 20th.
