Director traveled more than 20,000km to find movie locations

At the announcement of the film project The Hill of Torture: The Return of the Black Heresy, director Luong Dinh Dung said that he had traveled to many provinces and cities to find the setting for the film. “If we calculate the travel distance, it must be more than 20,000 km,” he shared.

According to director Luong Dinh Dung, during the preparation process, there were times when he told himself the project might be canceled because he couldn't find a suitable location. During the pre-production phase, he traveled to Thanh Hoa 40 times, in addition to countless trips to Nghe An, Cao Bang , and other places...

Just when he thought he was at a dead end, he was fortunate enough to find a small path leading to the main setting, the pineapple hills of Tam Diep ( Ninh Binh ). In addition, the cave setting in Ngoc Lac (Thanh Hoa) and the old-growth forest in Moc Chau (Son La) also greatly pleased him.

The film "Hill of Torture" marks the return of director Luong Dinh Dung after three previously released films: "Father Carrying Son," "578 - The Madman's Bullet ," and "Sleeping City ." However, this is his first attempt at the horror genre.

The film revolves around the story of Bao, a young man who works as a car mechanic and also owns an old car garage. While dismantling a car from the 1990s, Bao inadvertently awakens an evil force, triggering a series of bizarre events that befall him and those around him.

With the arrival of a mysterious investigator (Hứa Vĩ Văn), secrets from the past rise from the grave, exposing the hidden aspects of greed and brutality in humanity.

Director Luong Dinh Dung shared insights into the filmmaking process.

Director Luong Dinh Dung stated that he focused on exploiting the horror element from the primal fears of humankind. He believes this is what truly captivates audiences and sets his films apart from others in the same genre.

The locations were carefully selected to provide the most satisfying shots.

The film *Hill of Torture*, rated T18 (for audiences 18 years and older), is scheduled to premiere on September 26th in theaters nationwide.
