Promote trade connections, promote product consumption

On the afternoon of December 5th, the Nghe An Province Trade Connection Conference 2023 was held in Vinh City. The conference was chaired by: Mr. Le Hong Vinh – Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Le Viet Nga - Deputy Director of the Domestic Market Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade ; and Mr. Pham Van Hoa – Director of the Department of Industry and Trade.

Also attending were leaders from the Department of Industry and Trade, the Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, the Trade Promotion Center, and the Industrial Promotion Center of the provinces and cities of Dak Lak, Dong Nai, Vinh Long, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh , Quang Tri, Ninh Binh..., as well as numerous distributors and manufacturers from within and outside the province.

The conference heard reports on the potential of goods and services in Nghe An , the results of trade activities and supply-demand connections in the past period; and opinions and discussions from representatives of distribution businesses, cooperatives, and manufacturing enterprises throughout the province and neighboring provinces.

To date, Nghe An province has 403 products ranked as OCOP 3-star or higher; including 1 product achieving 5 stars, 43 products achieving 4 stars, and 359 products achieving 3 stars. Nghe An ranks second nationwide in the number of products recognized with star ratings, contributing to the development of the domestic market.

At the conference, more than 100 businesses, production and trading establishments, farms, cooperatives, and craft villages from within and outside the province displayed and introduced many products that were highly appreciated by consumers. Distributors also learned about and selected many suitable products to include and enrich their distribution chains.

Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, Pham Van Hoa, shared: "This is a good opportunity for businesses and production and supply facilities to directly contact the distribution system, propose their supply and consumption needs to traditional and modern distribution units and systems. Distributors also have the opportunity to present their requirements and regulations on quality standards for goods and services to be included in the distribution chain system."

The conference also fostered collaboration among managers, manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors, thereby building appropriate strategies for research, development, and market expansion, orienting production accordingly, and forming a sustainable and efficient supply chain. Through this conference, we also gained a clearer understanding of the need to strengthen trade promotion efforts and connect manufacturers and distributors to address the market demand for goods and services.

Continue to promote the consumption of Vietnamese goods.

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Le Viet Nga, Deputy Director of the Domestic Market Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, expressed her hope that businesses, shopping centers, supermarkets, distributors, etc., would continue to take the lead and cooperate with functional agencies and production units to promote the consumption of Vietnamese goods in general and specialty products of Nghe An province in particular. She urged businesses, cooperatives, and households producing and trading Vietnamese goods and local specialty products to further enhance the competitiveness of their products, build brands, and link with large distribution systems to promote the consumption of Vietnamese goods and specialty products of Nghe An province in domestic and international markets.

To continue implementing the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign, and to promote production, business, and product improvement, speaking at the conference, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Le Hong Vinh, requested the Department of Industry and Trade and the Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion to coordinate with relevant departments and units to annually organize trade promotion and business networking activities in provinces and cities nationwide. This will create opportunities for manufacturing, supplying, and distribution businesses to meet and exchange ideas on cooperation opportunities and boost product consumption. The goal is to organize specialized business networking activities focusing on specific sectors and industries, combined with a variety of rich and diverse events and activities.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Science and Technology, the Cooperative Union, and local authorities will continue to proactively focus on developing OCOP products, typical rural industries, and characteristic products with development advantages of the locality; building a database system to connect and integrate into a modern distribution system, aiming for export.

At the conference, a signing ceremony took place for cooperation agreements between distribution businesses WinCommerce, BRG retail chain, Tu Son An Giang Supermarket, Alibaba e-commerce platform, MM Mega Market Vinh Supermarket, Go Vinh Supermarket, Lotte Mart Vinh Supermarket, BiBi Green chain stores, Sunmart Vinh chain stores, Elder Farm, and other units producing and supplying goods and services inside and outside the province.
