On September 11th, according to information from the Project Management Board for the Cai Mep - Thi Vai Port area, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province issued a notice summarizing the Provincial Party Committee's decision to approve the investment in the interchange of component project 3 of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway with Provincial Road 991 through Phu My town, also known as the My Xuan - Ngai Giao - Hoa Binh road. The purpose is to improve the traffic connectivity of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway.
The progress of the expressway through Ba Ria - Vung Tau has reached over 45%, and the road is already taking shape.
The Cai Mep - Thi Vai Area Transport Project Management Board has requested the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to submit a document to the Prime Minister asking for permission to add the aforementioned interchange to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway project, phase 1, for synchronized implementation.
Previously, during working sessions with the National Assembly delegation and the Ministry of Transport , the leaders of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province also proposed adding more interchanges on the expressway, with the aim of facilitating connections with provincial roads, the Cai Mep - Thi Vai inter-port road, National Highway 51, etc.
This aims to create the most favorable conditions for people traveling on these routes. At the same time, it helps to transport goods to and from the ports faster. If component project 3, the section through Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, is put into operation before the remaining component projects, it will also ensure smooth traffic flow and maximize the functionality of this section.
The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway has a total length of 53.7km, passing through the two provinces of Dong Nai and Ba Ria - Vung Tau. Of this, the section through Dong Nai is 34.2km long, divided into two component projects, 1 and 2. The section through Ba Ria - Vung Tau is nearly 20km long.
According to the plan, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway will have 10 interchanges, with 4 of them located in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. Contractors are currently constructing interchanges between the expressway and National Highway 56, Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, the road to Chau Pha, and the Phu My interchange, with plans for their completion in 2025. The province has requested the inclusion of the interchange between the expressway and Provincial Road 991 in the plan.
Currently, the section through Ba Ria - Vung Tau has 100% of the land handed over, with 45% of the work completed. The road and bridges have taken shape, and many sections have been reinforced with cement and coated with adhesive, awaiting favorable weather conditions for asphalt paving.
As for the expressway through Dong Nai, only about two-thirds of the land has been handed over, but the situation is fragmented, causing delays in the project's progress. Most of the contract packages have only completed between 5% and over 20% of the work.
