On June 23, the Phu My Town Police ( Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) announced that they are investigating a tragic drowning incident that claimed the lives of three members of a family at Da Den Lake in Cau Moi hamlet, Song Xoai commune (Phu My town).
The victims have been identified as Mr. Nguyen Dinh C. (born in 1979), his grandchild LTN (born in 2014), and his grandchild LMT (born in 2016).
The scene of the tragic drowning incident was a site where construction, dredging, and renovation of the lakebed were underway.
Earlier, at around 5 PM on June 22nd, when she returned home from work and couldn't find her husband and two children, and couldn't contact them, Ms. Nguyet (the victim's wife) and her relatives went searching for them.
Late on the night of June 23rd, Ms. Nguyet discovered Mr. C.'s motorbike parked under a tree near the road in Cau Ri hamlet (Song Xoai commune). When she reached the water's edge of the lake, she found three pairs of sandals. Recognizing them as her husband's and son's, Ms. Nguyet reported the incident to the authorities.
Upon receiving the report, authorities arrived at the scene to conduct a search. At 5:00 AM the same day, authorities found the body of Mr. C. Around 10:00 AM, a group of divers from Da Den Lake arrived to assist in the search and found the bodies of N. and T.
It is known that the area where the three victims drowned is a site where dredging, renovation, and material extraction are being carried out at the bottom of Da Den Lake.
Regarding the tragic drowning incident, authorities initially determined that all victims died from asphyxiation.
