In particular, the improved T-54B version has been upgraded and modernized by the General Department of Logistics and Engineering, equipped with many outstanding smart features, high attack power, and offensive power on the battlefield.

In historical campaigns such as Route 9 - Southern Laos, Quang Tri, Central Highlands, Ho Chi Minh campaign, these tanks achieved many feats.

Currently, the improved T-54B tank version is displayed and introduced to the public by the Ministry of National Defense at the National Achievements Exhibition (Dong Anh commune, Hanoi).

According to published information, the T-54B tank is an improved version of the T54/T55 tank line, with a combat weight of 36.3 tons and a crew of 4 (commander, gunner, driver, loader). The vehicle is 9 m long; 3.27 m wide; 2.75 m high.

In the improved version, the vehicle's engine is upgraded to help the vehicle's performance be stronger and its speed faster than the original T-54. The vehicle's maximum speed can reach 50 km/h; operating range is 550 km on asphalt roads; 520 km on dirt roads.

Thanks to engine improvements, the T-54B can overcome many different types of terrain and obstacles such as 30-degree slopes, 25-degree slopes, trenches, underwater wading and cliffs...

Regarding the firepower system, the T-54B is equipped with a 100mm main gun, loaded by hand, and can carry 38 rounds. The main gun has a rate of fire of 7 rounds/minute. Ammunition types for the improved T-54B include high-velocity piercing bullets; piercing bullets; and explosive shells.

In addition to the main gun, the tank is also equipped with a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun and a 12.7 mm anti-aircraft machine gun.

One of the important improvements on the T-54B is the aiming system and fire control system through thermal imaging, laser rangefinder and ballistic calculation system through weather sensor system.

In addition to upgrading the weapon system, the T-54B also significantly upgraded its defense system through the integration of ATV-54 explosive reactive armor around the hull as well as the turret. In particular, the vehicle's gun system is reinforced with a box armor system in the front and cage armor in the rear to help protect the tank against conventional anti-tank weapons.

Combined with the reinforced outer armor, the vehicle's interior is equipped with an automatic fire extinguishing system based on temperature sensors; an anti-weapons of mass destruction system and a smoke grenade launcher.

Compared to unmodified T-54 models, the T-54B is equipped with a more modern communication system made by Vietnam itself, such as the RF-2050 radio transceiver with a range of 25 km and high anti-interference ability.
