(Dan Tri) - This survey was conducted in the US, the world's second largest electric vehicle market, and the results may surprise many people.
Electric cars are becoming more popular, but not all models bring the same satisfaction to users. A recent survey found that electric car owners in the US are generally satisfied with their vehicles; the BMW iX is the most highly rated.

Despite an 11% drop in sales last year to 15,383, the German all-electric SUV has won over owners, outperforming many other electric vehicles with higher sales in overall satisfaction.
JD Power's 2025 US Electric Vehicle Ownership Survey rated vehicles on a 1,000-point scale based on a number of key criteria: battery range, cost of ownership, driving experience, accuracy of manufacturer-reported driving range, access to public charging stations, ease of home charging, design, safety and technology features, service experience and quality, and overall reliability.
This year, the survey collected opinions from 6,164 owners of 2024 and 2025 model year pure electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).
As a result, the BMW iX scored 790 points out of 1,000, taking the top spot overall and leading the premium pure electric vehicle category. It was closely followed by another BMW model: the i4, with a score of 783.
Next is the Rivian R1S with 770 points, the Tesla Model 3 with 767 points and the Polestar 2 with 764 points.
The average user satisfaction score for the premium electric vehicle segment was 756. The Tesla Model Y (749), Audi Q8 e-tron (722) and Cadillac Lyriq (717) were below average.
Leading the pack of mainstream pure electric vehicles is the Hyundai Ioniq 6, with a score of 751. However, one could argue that the Tesla Model 3 and Y should also be considered mass-market pure electric vehicles, rather than premium products.
Other models rated as bringing high levels of satisfaction to users include: Kia EV6 (743 points), Chevrolet Equinox EV (737 points) and Hyundai Ioniq 5 (728 points).
The survey also asked owners about the training and education they received from their dealers or manufacturers. While 69% of first-time EV buyers received education, the survey found that better training could improve owner satisfaction.
The majority of EV owners surveyed were also willing to choose an EV again when they bought a car, with 94% saying they would likely consider buying an EV again.
The BMW iX's top ranking shows that satisfaction doesn't always translate into sales and underscores the importance of the ownership experience in creating consumer loyalty.
