The floor score hits rock bottom, but many universities still consider recruiting thousands of additional students

Today marks the end of the first round of university admissions for 2025, and many universities, both public and private, have hastily announced supplementary admissions with thousands of vacancies.

Specifically, Saigon International University is recruiting an additional 350 students for 29 undergraduate programs. The deadline for submitting supplementary applications is September 10th. According to Mr. Cao Quang Tu, Director of Admissions at Saigon International University, the university applies three admission methods:

Admission based on 12th-grade transcripts: The total score of the three subjects in the admission combination must be 18 or higher;

Admission based on 2025 high school graduation exam results: Candidates must have graduated from high school in 2025 and achieved a combined score of 15-18 or higher in the three subjects for each major;

Admission will be based on the results of the aptitude test organized by the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City in 2025. The minimum score for application acceptance is 600 (on a 1,200-point scale).

At Hung Vuong University in Ho Chi Minh City , the second round of admissions will include 12 additional majors using two methods: admission based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam and admission based on 12th-grade academic transcripts.

Specifically, for the Law major, the minimum admission score from the high school graduation exam is 18 points or higher, with a minimum of 6 points in Mathematics and Literature (or either Mathematics or Literature in the combination). If applying based on academic transcripts, candidates need to achieve an average score of 18 points or higher in all subjects in grade 12 (weighted by a factor of three), and a minimum of 6 points in Mathematics and Literature.

For the remaining majors, the minimum admission score based on high school graduation exam results is only 15 points. This is the lowest score in the 2025 admissions season. For the academic transcript-based admission method, the school only requires an average GPA of 17 points or higher (weighted by a factor of three). Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages ​​- Information Technology (HUFLIT) is accepting supplementary online applications for 23 full-time training programs from now until August 31st.

The school applies three admission methods with very low admission scores, which are also the school's previous cutoff scores. These include: high school graduation exam scores starting from just 15 points in a three-subject combination, 12th-grade academic transcript scores from 18 points, and results from the National University of Ho Chi Minh City's aptitude test (from 500 points). Applicants register an account and submit their application on the school's admissions website; results will be provided within 3-4 days.

Van Lang University announces supplementary admissions for 59 undergraduate programs with 5 admission methods: admission based on high school graduation exam scores, admission based on high school academic transcripts, admission based on the aptitude test organized by the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, admission based on a combination of entrance exams in aptitude subjects, and admission based on the results of the computer-based university entrance assessment test (V-SAT).

Gia Dinh University announces the recruitment of an additional 371 students for 8 majors: Artificial Intelligence, International Business, Information Technology, Finance and Banking, Public Relations, Media Technology, Financial Technology, and English Language.

Admission method:

- High school graduation exam score in 2025: from 15 points

- High school transcript score in 2025: from 16 points

- National University of Ho Chi Minh City's 2025 aptitude test score: from 550 points

Hong Bang International University is accepting applications until August 31st for the following majors: Pharmacy, Nursing, Midwifery, Medical Imaging Technology, Laboratory Technology, Public Health, Nutrition, Business Administration, Finance - Banking, Accounting, Financial Technology, Hotel Management, Event Management, E-commerce, English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean Languages; International Relations, Information Technology, Logistics, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Graphic Design, Architecture, Psychology, Multimedia Communication, Public Relations, Law, Educational Management, and Vietnamese Studies. The minimum application score is 15 to 17 points.

Nguyen Tat Thanh University is conducting supplementary admissions starting August 25th, with the minimum application score equivalent to the previously announced cutoff score. Supplementary admissions will be based on three methods: high school graduation exam scores, high school academic transcripts, and results from the aptitude tests of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnam National University Hanoi .

Medical field: high school graduation exam score from 20.5; academic transcript score from 23; aptitude test score from Ho Chi Minh City National University from 650; aptitude test score from Hanoi National University from 85.

The minimum admission scores for the Dentistry major are 20.5, 23, 600, and 75 points, respectively.

The admission scores for Pharmacy and Traditional Medicine are 19, 21, 570, and 70 respectively. Additionally, to be considered for these four programs, candidates need to have a GPA of "Good" for the entire 12th grade year or a graduation exam score of 8 or higher.

The minimum admission scores for Preventive Medicine, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Rehabilitation Technology are 17, 19, 550, and 70 points respectively. Candidates also need to have a GPA of "Good" or higher for the entire 12th grade year, or a graduation exam score of 6.5 or higher.

The Law, Economic Law, and Economic Law (international standard program) majors require 17 points for graduation assessment and 18 points for academic transcript review.

The remaining majors have cutoff scores of 15, 18, 550, and 70 points.

In the public sector, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade has also announced supplementary admissions for the following majors: Seafood Processing Technology, Materials Technology (regular program), and Business Administration (international joint program), with approximately 30 places available for each major. The minimum application score is 16-17 points. The university applies multiple admission methods and offers a 50% tuition fee reduction for the first semester for successful applicants. The deadline for applications is September 20th.
