Latest developments in the case of Meritorious Artist Do Ky failing to receive the title of People's Artist

Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper on the afternoon of December 1st, Meritorious Artist Do Ky said that he had just received the latest document from the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) stating that he had failed the review process for the title of People's Artist.

The announcement stated: "This dossier, submitted by the Central Emulation and Commendation Board to the Prime Minister, is being temporarily withheld because the individual has submitted a complaint and does not meet the eligibility criteria for the 10th award of the title 'People's Artist'."

Meritorious Artist Do Ky said: "This document does not answer my questions in the petition I sent to the relevant authorities and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on November 24th. I am still waiting for a more specific and transparent response."

Previously, he received notification that the 10th awarding of the title of People's Artist had been halted. The reason given was that his application for the title of People's Artist contained complaints and opinions from the Ministry of Public Security .

On November 24th, he submitted a petition to the relevant authorities to clarify his concerns.

Responding to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , Ms. Nghiem Thi Thanh Nguyet, Deputy Head of the Personnel and Organization Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated that during the process of reviewing the titles of People's Artist and Meritorious Artist Do Ky, a complaint was filed, but the relevant units resolved it transparently and according to the correct procedures and regulations issued by the Government .

"The petition was processed at the Ministerial-level Council before being submitted to the Central Emulation and Commendation Board. The dossier of Meritorious Artist Do Ky met the criteria for consideration for the title of People's Artist, so the Ministerial-level Council sent it to the Board, but the dossier was temporarily suspended upon arrival. The handling of the case took many months, so there was nothing surprising or unexpected for the artist," Ms. Nguyet informed.

Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , People's Artist Quoc Tri also said that he was one of the members of the State Council that nominated candidates for the titles of Meritorious Artist and People's Artist for the 10th time.

He affirmed that the members of the Council work transparently, professionally and independently. The Council reviews based on votes, and those who meet the requirements will have their files approved for submission to a higher level.

"If artists have suggestions or questions, they should submit complaints to the competent authorities for clarification," said People's Artist Quoc Tri.
