From July 2022, Vietnamese durian will be officially exported to China, creating a great opportunity for durian in the country in general and Dak Nong in particular.
Accordingly, the price of durian in 2023 is quite high, the economic efficiency is more stable than many other crops, which has encouraged people to proactively switch to monoculture durian or intercropping in industrial gardens to increase income.

In 2023, the total durian area in Dak Nong province will be about 10,309 hectares, an increase of 4,170 hectares compared to 2022; the area for products will be about 4,105 hectares.
The area of durian growing is growing rapidly, causing many unpredictable risks, lack of sustainability, many harmful pests and diseases, greatly affecting the productivity, quality and income of growers.

The output for agricultural products is generally not really stable, depends largely on traders, prices are unstable, the product consumption market is limited, mainly domestic and exported to the Chinese market.

At the forum, delegates who were agricultural and technical experts, a number of businesses and farmers discussed key solutions for sustainable durian cultivation, using pesticides according to the 4 correct principles, and preventing major pests and diseases.

Delegates also discussed solutions for harvesting, preserving, and processing durian to ensure food safety and hygiene, meeting importer standards.
The solution of building large-scale growing areas, strictly following good agricultural processes associated with linking consumption and traceability is mentioned by the forum as a sustainable method.
