On the afternoon of August 22, in Hai Phong, the Journalists and Public Opinion Newspaper, under the direction of the Vietnam Journalists Association, organized the 7th Editors-in-Chief Forum with the theme: “Resolution 57 on innovation: A golden opportunity for the press to develop breakthroughs.” The forum attracted the participation of leaders of press agencies, technology experts, local representatives and businesses.
In his opening speech, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi emphasized that 2025 is an important milestone, marking 100 years of Vietnamese revolutionary press accompanying the nation's revolutionary cause.
In the context of science, technology and innovation becoming the main driving force for development, Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo opens up great opportunities for the press to take advantage of digital transformation achievements, improve the effectiveness of propaganda and public service. The Resolution affirms the policy of "strongly developing the digital economy, digital society, digital government; promoting the application of science, technology and innovation in all fields, including press and media."
This is an important legal corridor that helps the press have more access to new technology, change the way they organize content production, increase interaction with readers and affirm their position in the global media environment.

Hai Phong Party Secretary Le Tien Chau stated that Hai Phong is the place to hold important events for the national press, especially at a time when the city has just reorganized its administrative units since July 1, opening a new development period. He emphasized that with its revolutionary tradition, innovative spirit and position as the industrial, commercial, scientific and technological center of the Northern Coastal region, Hai Phong is ready to accompany the press to promote the image, potential and strengths of the city. He expressed his hope that the press will continue to be an important force promoting the comprehensive development of the locality and the country.
Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, believes that the future of journalism is a blend of human creativity and technology. Artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, blockchain, data journalism, information visualization tools, and smart glasses for work will be inevitable trends.
He cited many practical applications such as AI supporting automatic article writing, news summarization, and content personalization according to readers' needs; natural language processing technology helps to transcribe interviews, create podcasts and videos from text, or blockchain helps to authenticate authors and fight fake news. These technologies have been and are being deployed by press agencies around the world, bringing about clear results.
However, Mr. Le Quoc Minh frankly said that most of the technology currently used by Vietnamese press is from abroad. Buying copyrights or hiring foreign services makes the cost high, while the ability to customize for the language and characteristics of Vietnamese press is still limited.
“It is time for us to promote the production of domestic technology products - Made in Vietnam - specifically for the press and media. Mastering technology not only helps reduce costs but also ensures suitability, safety and proactiveness,” Mr. Le Quoc Minh stated.

According to Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Vietnam is fully capable of developing domestic journalism technology solutions such as AI systems to write and edit news in Vietnamese, news personalization tools, blockchain platforms to verify information, or smart glasses to support reporters in the field. This requires close coordination between press agencies, research institutes, universities, and technology enterprises, creating an innovative ecosystem specifically serving the journalism industry.
At the forum, many opinions from journalists, experts and press agency leaders agreed with the above viewpoint. Delegates said that the press cannot just be a technology consumer but must directly participate in the process of researching and developing products to meet practical needs, while promoting the domestic technology industry.
Delegates agreed that Resolution 57-NQ/TW creates an important policy corridor, opening up opportunities for Vietnamese press to innovate strongly. To turn opportunities into reality, practical solutions are needed to encourage domestic production and application of technology for the press, instead of relying too much on imported solutions.
The 2025 Editor-in-Chief Forum affirmed the determination of Vietnamese press in promoting digital transformation and innovation, while also setting out urgent requirements for developing “Made in Vietnam” technology so that the press can not only keep up but also break through in the digital age./.
