Green and clean energy is one of the potential areas for cooperation between Long An province and French businesses. In addition, other high-tech and industrial sectors also promise significant investment prospects in the future.

As part of Long An province's trade and investment promotion trip to Europe, a Vietnam-France trade and investment seminar was held in Paris on November 13th. The event was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council of Long An; Mr. Dinh Toan Thang, Vietnamese Ambassador to France; Mr. Christophe Bellanger, Vice President for International Affairs of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris Ile-de-France (CCI Paris Ile-de-France); and numerous businesses and investors from France and Vietnam.

The event, jointly organized by CCI Paris Ile-de-France, the Vietnamese Embassy in France, the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and Long An province, aimed to share, discuss, and strengthen connections, opening up opportunities for cooperation in various fields between French partners and Long An province.

Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee Huynh Van Son speaks at the seminar.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Huynh Van Son, Vice Chairman of the Long An Provincial People's Committee, shared that Long An possesses distinct advantages with its strategic location adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City, the only gateway connecting to the Mekong Delta provinces, and convenient connectivity through a synchronized transportation infrastructure system and a modern international seaport.

Long An also stands out thanks to its abundant young workforce and large, well-invested industrial land ready to attract investors. The province's economy is growing steadily, ranking 12th in the country in terms of economic scale, and is among the top 2 localities with the best economic governance quality in Vietnam in 2023, according to the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This is the foundation that helps the province consistently maintain its position in the top 10 localities in Vietnam in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), with 1,367 projects from 41 countries and territories, totaling over US$12.5 billion in registered capital. Among these, French investors rank second among European Union countries investing in the province with 12 projects and a total capital of over US$161 million.

According to Mr. Son, these figures demonstrate the confidence that French investors have in Long An. The leaders of Long An province are strongly committed to continuously improving infrastructure, streamlining administrative procedures, and creating the most favorable conditions to welcome French investors to achieve breakthrough success and long-term development in Long An.

The province has great potential for developing cooperation in areas such as technology, green energy, and renewable energy. He also expressed his commitment to continue supporting Long An province in implementing and showcasing its potential to attract the attention of French businesses, enabling them to invest in the province or export its products to the French market in particular and the European Union in general, contributing to strengthening cooperative relations between European partners and Long An province.

Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang also assessed that French businesses are very interested in investment opportunities in Vietnam, especially in provinces with large industrial park areas and favorable locations such as Long An.

The ambassador emphasized that provinces like Long An need to proactively create more favorable conditions to attract and retain French investors, including accelerating administrative procedure reforms, developing industrial park infrastructure according to sustainable green standards, and ensuring a high-quality workforce. These steps will help Long An become an attractive and reliable destination, bringing practical value to French investors and contributing to the local economic development.

Long An Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Duoc held discussions with Christophe Bellanger, Vice President for International Affairs of CCI Paris Ile-de-France.

During a private meeting with the Paris Chamber of Commerce, Long An Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Duoc affirmed that this working program is a great opportunity for Long An province to attract French and European Union investors to Vietnam in general and Long An in particular, serving the task of building and developing the province's socio-economic development. The Long An Provincial Party Secretary stated that green and clean energy is one of the potential areas for cooperation, in addition to other high-tech and industrial sectors that also promise significant investment prospects in the future.

2024 marked a significant development in the relationship between Vietnam and France as the bilateral relationship was officially upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. In this context, Long An province has strived to strengthen cooperation with French partners, leveraging the existing bilateral relationship to facilitate large-scale investment projects. Through investment promotion activities and meetings and discussions with French partners, Long An aims to utilize France's advanced experience and technology to boost the local economy, particularly in high-tech projects, sustainable energy, and the modernization of transportation infrastructure.
