The First Vietnam Fruit Festival, themed “Vietnamese Fruits – Delicious in All Seasons,” took place at the Tan Phat Dia Agricultural Products Distribution Center in Fengtai District, Beijing, China, over two days, September 29-30. The festival was organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in China and the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association.

On the morning of September 30th, within the framework of the Fruit Festival, the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development ( Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam), in coordination with the Department of Trade Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam), the Department of Plant Protection and the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, organized the "Vietnam - China Fruit Import and Export Supply Chain Connection and Trade Forum".

After listening to presentations from speakers and analyzing the potential and opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, at the forum, Vietnamese and Chinese businesses and organizations held a signing ceremony for business cooperation aimed at boosting exports of agricultural and aquatic products.

Businesses from both countries exchanged information on potential strengths and advantages to promote trade connections between the two countries.

Specifically, Vietnamese and Chinese entities and businesses have signed four agreements. These are: the agreement between Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company and Beijing New Cooperation Development Company; the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association and the China Fruit Association; Vina T&T Group Import-Export Company and Beijing Yun Tian Liang Pin Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd.; and Vina T&T Group Import-Export Company and Asia Trade Exchange Co., Ltd.

Currently, Asia Trade Trading Company Limited has its office and headquarters located at the Beijing wholesale market (Xin Tian Di). It is a reputable and large-scale distributor of fresh fruit in China.

According to preliminary statistics, in just three months, this company imported 100 containers of various fruits from Vietnam to China. It is known that Asia Trade Trading Company Limited is interested in purchasing Vietnamese fruits such as dragon fruit, coconut, durian, and mango. In addition, the company wishes to purchase frozen durian with official export documents; and pomelo with official export documents to China. Regarding the purchase agreement with Vina T&T Group Import-Export Company or goods consigned for sale at the market, prices will be announced according to market rates.

In terms of capacity, Beijing New Cooperation Development Company – a member of the Supply and Marketing Group – has 1,400 stores and an underground retail system. In addition, the Group provides meals for schools and government agencies in Beijing. The signing of cooperation agreements between Vietnamese and Chinese businesses opens up new prospects for trade promotion, boosting the effectiveness of export activities between the two countries.

Businesses from both countries explore and share opportunities for cooperation.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, although it was the first time the festival was held, it attracted many large Vietnamese export businesses of fresh fruit and processed fruit products to display, introduce their products, and serve Chinese consumers.

This is a great opportunity for Vietnamese producers and suppliers to introduce and promote their brands and typical fruit products, as well as to meet and find customers, strengthen trade activities, and build sustainable cooperative relationships with potential partners for fruit imports in China. At the same time, it's a favorable opportunity for a large number of Chinese consumers to directly experience the quality and distinctive flavors of Vietnamese fruits, thereby helping to promote the national brand of Vietnamese agricultural products in general and fruits in particular to the Chinese market.

Previously, thanks to the joint efforts of both sides, high-quality Vietnamese fruits such as durian, dragon fruit, bananas, and mangoes have entered the Chinese market. At the same time, food products manufactured in Vietnam, such as coffee and pho, are also favored by many Chinese consumers.

With the comprehensive implementation of the RCEP Agreement and the continuous upgrading of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, cooperation between the two countries in technology, standards, and agricultural production has increasingly developed in a more in-depth direction.
