Identifying that building a new rural area is a long-term, persistent journey with no end point, over the past time, the Provincial Front at all levels has quickly taken action, arousing internal strength and mobilizing people's strength. In the process of reaching that goal, many practical models and tasks have been born and spread strongly.

Help people reduce poverty sustainably

Up to now, the new rural wind has spread to many rural areas in the province. The appearance of rural areas has changed positively. The material and spiritual life of the people has constantly improved. There is no longer the idea of "each family has its own light", cadres and people in the rural areas actively support each other to overcome difficulties, overcome poverty, and join hands to build new rural areas. The spirit of "leaving no one behind" is highly promoted.

To have these encouraging signs, in recent times, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has made efforts to participate. Right from the beginning of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, the Fatherland Front officials in the province identified that building a new rural area is a long process with no end point. Compared to other localities in the country, Quang Tri embarked on building a new rural area with many difficulties. The impact of war consequences, natural disasters and floods are major barriers to local socio-economic development. Therefore, helping people in rural areas to sustainably reduce poverty is a necessary requirement. Building a new rural area is only successful when people have enough food and clothing.

From that deep awareness, the Provincial Front at all levels has focused on coming up with ideas and implementing models to help people sustainably reduce poverty associated with building the new rural areas. Many of these models have quickly brought about encouraging signs.

For example, with the support of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front, the model of cooperative groups for purchasing, preserving and processing seafood has effectively helped people in Gio Hai commune, Gio Linh district. Through the model, many households have escaped poverty. The average income of each worker in the group is 3-4.5 million VND/month. That success is the motivation for the Provincial Fatherland Front at all levels to build and replicate the following models.

Recently, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee supported the construction of 20 livelihood models for households in difficult circumstances with a total amount of 600 million VND. At the same time, it guided localities to support poor, near-poor, and newly escaped-poverty households to build production and business development models.

In addition to supporting through models, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has done a good job of mobilizing, managing and using the "For the Poor" Fund with a focus on supporting people's livelihoods to develop the economy and reduce poverty sustainably. From the beginning of the year to November 20, 2023, the "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee at all levels in the province has mobilized a total of 47,718 billion VND.

Thereby, the fund has supported the construction of 495 solidarity houses and repaired 88 houses for poor households; supported production development for 106 households; supported 999 poor students; presented more than 10,300 gifts... and many other forms of support. The work of mobilizing relief for natural disasters and risks has been promptly implemented by the Fatherland Front at all levels in coordination with the government, organizations, individuals and philanthropists.

Good models flourish

To have more livable countryside, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has focused on building and implementing the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas". With high determination, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the province proactively assigned the task of building plans and implementing the campaign with political tasks and emulation movements of localities and units.

The Fatherland Front at all levels in the province and its member organizations actively participate in propagating the content of criteria in building new rural areas; mobilizing people to contribute resources; implementing, guiding and directly organizing and participating in collecting opinions and assessing people's satisfaction with the results of building new rural areas.

Responding to the campaign, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has had many specific models and tasks. In Hai Lang district, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district directed communes and towns to launch and introduce many models such as: "Model New Rural Residential Area in 2023" in Phuoc Dien residential area, Hai Dinh commune; "Buddhists of Trung An Pagoda ensure security and order, protect the environment and respond to climate change" in Hai Khe commune; "Funerals do not invite shamans, only use loudspeakers, record and play music" in Da Nghi village, Thong Nhat hamlet, Hai Ba commune...

In Quang Tri town, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the town coordinated to organize a contest to build green-clean-environmentally friendly works based on the residential community. In Vinh Linh district, the movement to join hands to build new rural areas was maintained with many good practices, including the contest "Green-clean-beautiful-safe village".

In Huong Hoa district, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee organized a national solidarity festival combined with launching the construction of 14 typical models in residential areas, effectively contributing to the implementation of new rural construction targets.

Based on the criteria for building new rural areas and local realities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels have proposed ideas and implemented appropriate models. In particular, the criteria on environment, security and order, traffic, etc. are focused on by the Front at all levels.

With environmental criteria, the Provincial Fatherland Front at all levels regularly mobilizes people to use clean water and environmental sanitation; build waste collection and treatment points, not encroach on roads and sidewalks; maintain activities to keep clean and beautiful village roads and alleys, build civilized streets... The waste collection groups established in Dao Dau residential area, Trieu Trung commune, Trieu Phong district are one of the typical models.

In addition, many other models of the Front at all levels in the province have also met the requirements from the practice of building new rural areas in localities such as: Mobilizing people to implement "Lighting up the countryside roads" in Cam Thanh commune (Cam Lo district), Vinh Thuy, Kim Thach (Vinh Linh district); donating land for road construction in Nhu Le village, Hai Le commune (Quang Tri town); mobilizing people to move graves in residential areas and in production land to planned locations in Hai Thuong and Hai Lam communes (Hai Lang district)...

Responding to the campaigns and emulation movements initiated by the Front at all levels, member organizations of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee have also proactively and actively implemented projects and tasks extensively. The content of the campaign has been concretized into movements in each member organization such as: The movement "Veterans help each other reduce poverty, do good business" of the Provincial Veterans Association; the movement "Quang Tri Youth join hands to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" of the Provincial Youth Union; the model "5 no 3 clean" of the Provincial Women's Union; the movement of farmers competing in production, good business, solidarity to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably of the Provincial Farmers' Association...

According to Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province Le Hong Son, in recent times, the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" has been actively propagated, mobilized and brought into life by the Front and member organizations at all levels through many good models and suitable methods, associated with the deployment and implementation of programs and projects of the province and locality.

Through the campaign, the Provincial Front at all levels has succeeded in mobilizing the strength of the entire political system and the people to build the new rural areas. That effort has contributed to helping many rural areas in the province to increasingly prosper and change.
