With 100% of National Assembly deputies participating in the vote, the National Assembly passed a resolution to elect comrade Luong Cuong, Politburo member and Permanent member of the Secretariat, to hold the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term.

New President Luong Cuong

At the 8th session taking place this afternoon (October 21), the National Assembly elected the President.

With 100% of National Assembly deputies participating in the vote, the National Assembly passed a resolution to elect Comrade Luong Cuong, Politburo member and Permanent member of the Secretariat, to hold the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term.

After being elected, new President Luong Cuong took the oath of office according to regulations.

"Under the sacred red flag with yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly and the people and voters of the whole country, I, Luong Cuong, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, swear: To be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the People, to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, to strive to fulfill well the tasks assigned by the Party, State and People," the President took the oath.

After the oath-taking ceremony, President Luong Cuong delivered a speech before the National Assembly.
