Energizing the 220 kV transmission line project to serve electricity import from Laos

The National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), the Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB) in coordination with relevant units have successfully energized the 220 kV Tuong Duong - Do Luong transmission line project.

The project is invested by EVNNPT, managed by CPMB, and operated by Power Transmission Company 1. The line is built in the communes of Tam Quang, Chau Khe, Con Cuong, Mon Son, Vinh Tuong, Anh Son, Yen Xuan, Cat Ngan and Do Luong of Nghe An province.

Relevant units witnessed the moment of energizing the project.

The project has a scale of building 2 new 220kV lines, with a length of about 80.66km. Investing in expanding 2 220kV bays on the land area west of the existing 220kV Do Luong transformer station. The expansion of the 220kV bay at the 220kV Do Luong transformer station is carried out on the land area west of the existing transformer station in Do Luong commune, Nghe An province.

After completion, the project will help increase the stability of power supply for the load in Nghe An province; release capacity from the Nam Mo Hydropower Plant Cluster in Laos, My Ly Hydropower Plant, Nam Mo 1 and small and medium hydropower plants in the area through the 220 kV Tuong Duong Transformer Station to the national power system.

The 220 kV Tuong Duong - Do Luong transmission line project has been successfully energized.

The project implementation process encountered many difficulties and challenges in compensation and site clearance, along with the weather in the area being frequently affected by storms in 2025. However, with the close direction of EVNNPT, the solidarity of local authorities in Nghe An province, and the support of the people where the project passed, the project was completed and finished more than 1 month ahead of the Investment Policy approved by the People's Committee of Nghe An province.

Regarding the completion of the project, it is a practical action of CPMB and EVNNPT employees to welcome the 5th EVNNPT Trade Union Congress, term 2025-2030, which will be held in early December 2025, and is also a practical action to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnam Electricity Industry (December 21, 1954 - December 21, 2025).
