Bright spot in blood donation
Coming to Bac Lung commune, many people know the Duong family because it is a representative of the voluntary blood donation movement in the locality. With 32 members participating regularly, since 2008, the family has donated blood a total of 180 times. In recognition of these outstanding achievements, the family was recently commended and rewarded by the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee.

Without organizing in a big way or shouting slogans, the Duong family has a creative and effective way of doing things. Before each blood donation, the elders and seniors in the family proactively set an example by registering, and at the same time, encouraging their brothers and children to participate. The family also established a Zalo group to announce the time and location of blood donation programs; reminding each other to take care of their health and eat regularly to ensure that the donated blood meets the standards. During family meetings and death anniversaries, the elders often spend time promoting and emphasizing the meaning of donating blood to save lives, encouraging their children and grandchildren aged 18 and over to actively participate. Mr. Duong Van Quyen, representative of the Duong family, who has donated blood 24 times, shared: "At first, only I and a few people in the family went to donate. Seeing me healthy after donating blood, the family and the village followed suit."
From Mr. Quyen's example, many young people in the clan have become typical blood donation volunteers of the commune and the province, actively participating every year. Not only the clans, many individuals and families in the area also maintain regular blood donation activities with a high spirit of volunteerism and community responsibility. Typical examples include Mr. Nguyen Huu Bac's family (Tien Luc commune) with 40 blood donations, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh's family (Chu ward) with 30 donations, Mr. Nguyen Duc Anh (Bao Dai commune) donated blood 60 times, Mrs. Hoang Quynh Loan ( Bac Giang ward) 64 times...
In the first 6 months of this year, the whole province (including the number of 2 provinces before the merger) organized 62 blood donation days, receiving about 40 thousand units of blood (after conversion). Entering the summer months, the time when the demand for blood is often high due to the increase in the number of emergency cases and patient treatment, the voluntary blood donation movement is increasingly interested and promoted. |
As a province with many large industrial parks and clusters, with hundreds of thousands of workers working, in recent years, the voluntary blood donation movement at enterprises has received attention from many units, typically Samsung Display Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Yen Phong Industrial Park). Starting to participate in 2016, after 9 years of continuous implementation, the unit has organized regular blood donations, collecting more than 23 thousand units of blood. In order for each blood donation to achieve high results, the Company produces videos and trailers introducing the meaning of blood donation, posts them on the fanpage, sends information via internal email and messages to each employee so that everyone knows the plan. In the coming time, the enterprise will continue to maintain the blood donation movement with a frequency of 2 times/year.
The voluntary blood donation movement in the province has developed strongly, becoming a bright spot in the country. In addition to spreading widely in residential areas, the movement has also been effectively implemented in agencies, schools, and businesses. Many clans, families, individuals, and businesses maintain regular blood donation, becoming active and pioneering nuclei in voluntary blood donation activities.

Many workers and employees of 2 companies: Crystal Martin Vietnam Limited Liability Company and Crystal Intimate Vietnam Limited Liability Company (Quang Chau Industrial Park) participated in voluntary blood donation. |
Recently, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Bac Ninh province coordinated with the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and two companies: Crystal Martin Vietnam Limited Liability Company and Crystal Intimate Vietnam Limited Liability Company (Quang Chau Industrial Park) to organize a voluntary blood donation day. The program attracted nearly 700 union members and workers to register to participate. Through inspection and screening, the organizing committee received 560 units of safe blood.
Voluntary blood donation clubs also have exchanges, connections, and experiences in organizing and mobilizing blood donations, creating an increasingly close coordination network. Many young people with knowledge of technology have proactively set up fanpages and interactive groups on Facebook and Zalo platforms, sharing information, mobilizing forces, and being ready to support each other when needed. Ms. Duong Thi Ngoc Sang, Head of Bac Giang Blood Club said: “With their dynamism, creativity, and ability to use social networks flexibly, young people are an important factor contributing to strongly spreading the humane meaning of voluntary blood donation. In addition to creating creative content, videos, and attractive images to attract people, they are also healthy enough to donate blood regularly.”
To maintain and develop the movement sustainably, in the coming time, authorities at all levels, the Provincial Red Cross Society and related organizations will continue to implement many synchronous solutions, focusing on propaganda work, diversifying forms of mobilization, and expanding the target group for blood donation. Promote the application of information technology in managing information of blood donors, connecting volunteers via social networks to help improve mobilization efficiency during peak periods. Timely commend outstanding individuals and groups in the blood donation movement, creating a spreading effect in the community.
