Dong Thap announces project to transform rice value chain

In Dong Thap , this project has a total capital of more than 22 billion VND, funded by the Netherlands Development Organization SNV, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is the project owner. The implementation period is from 2023 to 2027, with the goal of improving the livelihoods of small-scale rice farmers in the project area; building inclusive rice value chains; reducing greenhouse gas emissions from rice production; supporting the development of low-carbon rice brands in Dong Thap province.

The project is expected to reduce 75,000 tons of CO2 emissions from rice cultivation; reduce 30% - 40% of seeds; reduce the amount of chemical fertilizers and chemical pesticides in rice production by 30% or more; ensure 40% - 50% of profits for farmers from rice production...

In addition to Dong Thap, this project is also implemented in Kien Giang and An Giang.
