On the Ho Chi Minh City stock exchange, at the close of trading, the VN-Index fell 5.39 points (0.32%) to 1,660.7 points; the VN30-Index closed at 1,852.65 points, down 6.02 points (-0.32%).

During the session, the market experienced three periods of gains, but these were not sustained. As a result, the index representing the exchange was in the red for most of the trading time.

In this session, cash flow was quite weak as investors were unwilling to place buy orders at high prices. On the electronic trading board, the number of declining stocks outnumbered rising stocks, with 203 falling and 104 rising. In the VN30 group, the number of declining stocks was four times greater than the number of rising stocks (21 and 4).

VIC continued to be a market support stock in this session. While its 3.8% price increase was high compared to other periods during the session, it was still significantly lower than the previous day's gain. Therefore, its 5.61-point contribution to the VN-Index only helped slow the market's decline, but could not prevent a complete downturn.

Other stocks such as CTG, KDH, KBC, and HDG contributed 0.51-0.15 points.

Conversely, bank stocks were among the leading contributors to the decline in points. VPB was the biggest loser, taking away 1 point; followed by HDB (0.67 points), BID (0.57 points), and so on.

The majority of sectors declined; essential aviation trade, energy, healthcare equipment and services, and securities were among those that fell by more than 1%. Meanwhile, hardware and equipment, insurance, and real estate sectors rose by more than 1%.

Liquidity remained low, with approximately 27 trillion VND changing hands. Foreign investors were net sellers, buying nearly 1,911 billion VND and selling over 3,954 billion VND.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the total trading value reached nearly 2,400 billion VND. At the close of the session, the HNX-Index stood at 276.06 points, down 1.59 points (-0.57%); the HNX30-Index fell to 601.53 points after a decrease of 6.65 points (-1.09%).
