Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam and the delegation of leaders of Binh Dai District People's Committee surveyed the progress of Ba Lai 8 bridge project.

The Ba Lai 8 Bridge Project is a key project on the coastal road of Ben Tre province, gradually realizing the goal of inter-regional connectivity, although it still faces many challenges in land clearance and forest land procedures. With a total length of more than 527m, Ba Lai 8 Bridge and a 12.3km long access road system promise to create new development momentum for the two districts of Binh Dai and Ba Tri, while opening up space for marine economic development in the whole province.

Ba Lai 8 Bridge is under construction, progress reaching 5 to 15% depending on the contract package.

As of June 2025, the construction progress of the entire project has reached about 5 - 15% depending on the package. Of which, package XL01 including small bridges and roadbed has reached 5%, completed the bored pile part of some bridge piers; package XL02, the main part of Ba Lai 8 bridge, has reached 15% of the volume with many bridge piers having poured the pier body, bored piles are being constructed simultaneously at the locations. The connecting route of package XL03 is implementing the construction of Rach Trai temporary bridge but still depends on the site not being completely handed over.

The total capital allocated for the project to date is VND1,718 billion, of which the capital plan for 2025 is more than VND1,033 billion. However, the disbursement value in the first half of 2025 has only reached VND56.2 billion, due to the impact of delays in site clearance and legal procedures related to forest land.

Regarding the land, Ba Tri and Binh Dai districts have conducted a census of 145 affected cases, of which Binh Dai has 97 cases and Ba Tri has 48 cases. Up to now, Ba Tri has approved and handed over the entire land to 46/48 cases; Binh Dai has handed over 79/86 approved files. The biggest problem now is that households with forest land (2 cases in Ba Tri and 11 cases in Binh Dai) have not yet completed the legal procedures to be compensated and hand over the land.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam said he will support the construction unit in removing difficulties in site clearance and connecting to find sources of construction materials (sand, stone).

Through listening to reports and conducting field surveys, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam highly appreciated the efforts of the construction unit and the drastic participation of localities; at the same time, he requested to continue promoting effective implementation in the coming time in a drastic and urgent spirit.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam also said that the Provincial People's Committee will pay attention to directing and supporting the removal of difficulties and obstacles so that the construction unit can smoothly implement the project on schedule.
