The district police found no external force or unusual signs of death. The victim’s family refused an autopsy.

Ms. Thao added that when the local government organized the "Step on the Clouds - Conquer Ta Chi Nhu Province" mountain climbing competition in late September and early October, the district had placed many safety warning signs and medical instructions in places that were easy for tourists to access on the mountain climbing route to guide people to have a safe trip.

Ta Chi Nhu is located in Xa Ho commune, Tram Tau district, part of the Pu Luong mountain range in Hoang Lien Son range. Ta Chi Nhu ranks 7th in the 10 highest mountains in Vietnam, over 2,900 m high and is known as the "roof of Yen Bai". This place is also one of the beautiful cloud hunting spots, compared by tourists to "cloud paradise on earth", according to the Tram Tau district's electronic information page.
